LOCATION: Greensboro Aquatics Center 1921 West Lee St. Greensboro, NC 27403

VENUE: The Greensboro Aquatics Center is a 50 meter pool which can be broken into two short course venues with a separate diving well. This competition will use an eight (8) lane 50 meter course competition venue with continuous warm-up and cool down lanes available throughout the meet. The pool depth is 9’-10’ at the start and turn ends and 4” lane lines will be used to reduce turbulence. The lane width is 9’. A Colorado Timing System 6 with a Daktronics Pro-Star LED Video Scoreboard Display will display results simultaneously. Starting platforms are Colorado Competition deck anchored platforms. The competition course has been certified in accordance with 104.2.2C(4).

No outside Food or Drink will be permitted. There is a spectator seating area with a capacity of 1850 persons. Spectators are not allowed on the deck at any time. The 650 bleacher seats on deck are reserved for swimmers only.

VENUE SHOPS KAST-A-WAY Swim wear is located near the main entrance. Food and drink may be purchased from various Food Carts located throughout the venue.

PARKING Parking will be $4.00 per day or $10.00 for the week-end with re-entry allowed. Parking for Coaches and Officials will be provided.

On Sunday, any swimmer checked in for a championship or consolation final in an individual event who fails to compete in said event will be barred from further competition and also fined $25.00 for each event not swum.

There will be a scratch deadline one (1) hour after the start of the evening finals sessions for a swimmer to scratch an event the following morning to allow them to swim a time trial.

RULES: This meet will be conducted in accordance with the current USA Swimming Regulations, NCS Official Handbook and NCS Safety Program, except where rules are therein optional and exceptions are herein stated.

Use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms or locker rooms.

ELIGIBILITY: Open to the members of the Eastern Section of the Southern Zone, its clubs and swimmers registered with USA Swimming that are in good standing with Eastern Section. All USA Swimming registered clubs in the following LSC’s are eligible to join the Eastern Section: Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Southeastern and West Virginia.

Swimmers and clubs from outside these LSC boundaries are eligible to participate in the Spring Championship meet provided they meet the summer USA Junior National qualifying standards and become registered club member of the Eastern Section.

There will be on-deck registration for teams wishing to join the section. Entries from swimmers from a non-member club may be accepted into the meet, but prior to competing, must pay the $45 club registration fee to become an Eastern Section registered team. Please include a separate check made payable to North Carolina Swimming Region Fund with your meet entry fees.

SWIMMERS WITH Star Aquatics welcomes all swimmers with disabilities as described in the USA DISABILITIES: Swimming Rules and Regulations, Article 105, to participate in our meets. Coaches entering swimmers with disabilities that require any accommodations are required to provide advance notice in writing to the meet director by the entry deadline accompanying their meet entry file, including the need for any personal assistants required and/or registered service animals. Failure to provide advance notice may limit Star's ability to accommodate all requests.

TIME STANDARDS: All swimmers must have met either the 2011/2012 short or long course qualifying time standard in each event entered. Swimmers should enter the meet using the time and course in which they achieved the qualifying time standard and will be seeded accordingly. Faster times achieved following the entry date will not be accepted as replacements for previously entered times.

FORMAT:  Positive Check-In will be required for all individual and relay events 400 meters or longer. These events will be deck-seeded. See the “Schedule” for a complete list of check-in deadlines for each event.

 All individual events, except the 800 and 1500 Free, will be conducted on a preliminary and final basis. Eight (8) swimmers each, women and men, will qualify for a Championship, Consolation, Bonus and “D” heat in each event in the finals.

 All Sunday evening finals will be conducted on a positive check-in basis. Any swimmer making the Bonus, Consolation, or Championship heat on Sunday, March 11, will have 30 minutes to positive check-in after the preliminary results are announced or the swimmer will be scratched from the Finals. On Sunday, any swimmer checked in for a championship or consolation final in an individual event who fails to compete in said event will be barred from further competition and also fined $25.00 for each event not swum.

 The 1500 will be conducted as a timed final on Sunday, March 11. Swimmers may opt to swim during the AM or PM session. The fastest eight (8) seeded women and men who select the PM option will swim during finals on Sunday evening in the order on the event sheet. The remaining swimmers will compete at the end of the prelim session on Sunday. These heats will begin ten minutes after the 400 Medley Relay and will be seeded fastest to slowest, alternating women and men. Swimmers must provide their own lap counter and may be asked to provide a timer. Positive check-in is required by noon on Saturday March 10.

 The 800 Free will be deck-seeded and will be conducted as a timed final on Thursday evening March 8. The heats will be swum with the fastest three (3) heats of women slowest to fastest, the fastest three (3) heats of men slowest to fastest, then alternating women and men fastest to slowest. Swimmers must provide their own lap counter and may be asked to provide a timer. Positive check-in is required by 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, March 8.

 The 400 IM and 400 Free will be swum in the following order: the fastest four (4) women’s heats then the fastest four (4) men’s heats swum slowest to fastest (the fastest three (3) heats will be circle seeded), then the remainder of the heats will be swum fastest to slowest, alternating women and men. Positive check-in is required by 8:15 a.m. on the day of the event.

 The 800 Free Relay will be deck-seeded and conducted as a timed final on Thursday, March 8. The heat order will be slowest to fastest, all women then all men. Positive check-in will be Thursday, March 8 at 4:45 p.m.

 The 400 Free Relay will be deck-seeded and conducted as a timed final on Friday, March 9. The heat order will be slowest to fastest all women then all men. The fastest two (2) heats of women and men will be swum during finals on Friday evening in the order on the event sheet. The remaining heats will be swum during prelims in the order on the event sheet. Positive check-in will be 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 9.

 The 400 Medley Relay will be deck-seeded and conducted as a timed final on Sunday, March 11. There will be an AM/PM option. The heat order will be slowest to fastest, all women then all men. The fastest two (2) heats of women and men choosing PM will swim during finals. Positive check-in will be 8:15 a.m. on Sunday, March 11.

 There will be a ten (10) minute break before ALL relay events.

ENTRY LIMITS: Swimmers may swim three (3) individual events per day, excluding relays. A swimmer may enter any number of events, but may only swim three (3) individual events per day. Swimmers failing to scratch down to three (3) individual events for the day by the scratch deadline will be dropped from their last event. Though swimmers may enter as many events as they have standards for, they will be limited to competing in three individual events per day plus relays. Swimmers participating on relay teams only must be listed on the entry forms. Each team will be limited to two (2) relay teams per event.

ENTRIES: Please note the following guidelines for entries:  Calculate swimmer age as of March 8, 2012.  There will be no course conversion. Swimmers should enter the meet using the time and course in which they achieved the qualifying time standard and will be seeded accordingly. Faster times achieved following the entry date will not be accepted as replacements for previously entered times.  There are two options for submitting entries: 1. Entries may be submitted via USA Swimming’s Online Meet Entry portal. DO NOT check out with payment after completing your OME entries. Send an email to [email protected] when entries are complete. A check made out to STAR Aquatics is due no later than check-in. Teams paying through OME must pay the 4.8% OME credit card surcharge by check made out to STAR Aquatics no later than check-in. 2. Hy-Tek Meet Manager compatible file to [email protected]. A confirmation email will be returned when they have been received.

 Swimmers being entered for relay purposes only must be included so USA Registration can be verified.  Entries will not be loaded until payment has been received.  Complete the attached Meet Entry Form and mail it along with your payment*.  Late Entries will be accepted until 20 minutes before the session start time in open lanes only. They will be seeded with a NT. No heats will be added. After this time the swimmers are added to an event at the sole discretion of the referee. This will be first come first serve. *Double fees will apply and must be paid at the time of entry. Coaches should complete an “Event Add” form and submit it to the Clerk of Course.

Entry Deadline is 7:00pm Tuesday February 28, 2012. No telephone or fax entries will be accepted.  Corrections to previously submitted entries may be emailed to [email protected], confirmation email will be sent. The deadline for corrections is 9:00 PM on March 5, 2012.  Entries past the deadline (late entries) will be taken at the discretion of the Meet Director. Double fees will be charged for entries received after February 28, 2012. All fees are non-refundable. Checks should be made out to STAR Aquatics and must accompany entries.

PSYCH SHEET: A Preliminary Psych Sheet for verification purposes will be posted on the website (www.staraquatics.net) on Friday March 2, 2012. Any corrections must be emailed to the meet director by 9:00 PM on Monday, March 5, 2012. No further corrections will be accepted.

USA SWIMMING No entries will be accepted without USA-S numbers. Each club is responsible for the MEMBERSHIP: proper registration of its swimmers, officials and coaches. The person completing and signing the entry form accepts all responsibility for proper USA-Swimming numbers/registrations with USA-S. Each coach attending the meet must be listed on the entry form. All coaches must be members of USA-S and must meet current USA-S safety training requirements. All officials other than timers must be members of USA-S. If a swimmer attends the meet without a coach, he or she must arrange to be supervised by a USA-S member coach from another team.

PROOF OF TIMES: Swimmers or relays that fail to achieve the applicable Southern Zone Eastern Sectional time standard in any event during the meet must provide proof-of-time. Only official met results from US/-S sanctioned or approved competitions are acceptable. The Proof of Times Chairman will send each club a list of swimmers who failed to achieve qualifying standards within 30 days of the meet’s conclusion. If no proof is provided, the swimmer with be fined $25.00 per event. Fines unpaid by November will be doubled to $50.00. Neither the swimmer nor his team will be eligible to enter future Sectional meets until said fine is paid in full. All fines collected will be contributed to the Eastern Section Southern Zone Travel Fund.

TIME TRIALS: Time trials to meet National Qualifying Standards may be held at the discretion of the Meet Referee after each Prelims and Finals session. Such swims must fall within the (3) three events per day limit. Swimmers must be entered in the meet in order to participate in time trials; relay only swimmers are not eligible. The deadline for entry is 11:00 a.m. and 1 hour after Finals start. All fees must be paid when the Intention is filed. There will be a 10 minute break at the end of the session prior to the start of Time Trials.

Swimmers will need to provide their own timers and lap counters.

Events shall be swum in the following order; please note that events may be combined: Friday-A Saturday-B Sunday-C A-B-C B-C-A C-A-B*

*Time trials for the 1500 Free and 800 Free will be offered on Friday after the Finals session only. Meet Management reserves the right to limit these events depending on the timeline. This will be determined at the Coaches’ meeting.

SCORING AND Team awards will be presented to the top 6 teams combined, the top 6 men's teams, and AWARDS: the top 6 women's teams. High point awards will be given to the top female and male swimmers. Medals will be awarded to the top eight (8) swimmers. Individual events will be scored as follows: A Final- 20-17-16-15-14-13-12-11 B Final- 9-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 Relays- 40-34-32-30-28-26-24-22-18-14-12-10-8-6-4-2

READY ROOM: The top eight (8) qualifiers for finals should report to the ready room to be marched to the blocks prior to their event.

ATHLETE ROOM: A hospitality room for athletes will be available throughout the meet.

SCRATCH RULE: Any swimmer not planning to swim at night in the finals must scratch with the Admin Referee. The penalty for failure to compete in a final or consolation final is disqualification from the remainder of the meet (USA Swimming Rule 207.12.6).

The penalty for swimmers checking in but missing a deck-seeded event will result in being barred from the swimmer’s next individual event. While there is no penalty for not swimming in the non-deck seeded preliminary events, a “no show” or a “declared false start” are both considered disqualifications from an event and the swimmer is treated as having competed or participated in the event and still counts toward their day limit. Additionally, late entries will be added to empty lanes only. In consideration of all swimmers we request that coaches scratch swimmers before the deadlines to insure full heats.

SAFETY: The North Carolina safety program is in effect for this meet. Coaches are advised to closely supervise their swimmers at all times. NO Running or horseplay will be tolerated. No spectators will be allowed on deck. No glass containers on-deck.

WARM-UPS: Coaches must be USA-S certified and are required to supervise their swimmers during warm-up. No diving is allowed in the warm-up pool.

RACING STARTS: Any swimmer entered in the meet, unaccompanied by a USA Swimming member coach, must be certified by a USA Swimming member coach as being proficient in performing a racing start or must start each race from within the water. It is the responsibility of the swimmer or the swimmer’s legal guardian to ensure compliance with this requirement.

COACH AND In accordance with NC Swimming Rules, coaches and officials are required to display OFFICIAL CHECK- proof of current USA Swimming Membership at all times. IN: We ask that all coaches and officials show their credentials to the Meet Director or designee upon arrival. Only those with current proof of credentials will be allowed on deck.

COACHES’ There will be a mandatory Coaches' Meeting at 3:00 PM on Thursday, March 8, 2012. MEETING: Location will be announced.

All teams must provide a list of all coaches attending this meet by the entry deadline along with their team entries. Coaches must wear their registration card at all times on the deck.

OFFICIALS: NC Swimming welcomes visiting officials and would appreciate help in officiating this meet. Any certified official or apprentice registered with USAS is encouraged to contact the Meet Referee prior to the meet. All officials must wear current USA Swimming registration card while on deck and present current certification card at check-in. Officials without proper credentials will not be allowed on deck. The uniform for all sessions is white Polo shirt, navy slacks and white shoes. Any officials who would like specific deck assignments are asked to contact the Meet Referee.

SECTIONAL There will be a meeting of all members of the Eastern Section of the Southern Zone on MEETING: Saturday March 10, 2012 thirty (30) minutes after the conclusion of prelims. All teams are encouraged to attend.

MEET A meet committee will be formed at the Coaches' Meeting. This committee will consist COMMITTEE: of two coaches, two swimmers, the Meet Referee, the Meet Director, and the Eastern Section Southern Zone Chairman.

COMMENTS: Any comments regarding the conduct of the meet, or problems that are not resolved in a satisfactory fashion should be communicated in writing to the Section Chairman,
