Cancer Or Anti-Aging Report

CANCER OR ANTI-AGING REPORT - Presentation starting on the following date: ______.

1. Pick your partners based on the topic that you are most interested in presenting. 2. You have a choice based upon the two videos that we have just recently viewed. These videos are “Cancer Warrior” and “Never Say Die”.

If you choose the cancer report, your report may be more factual about a type of cancer. (although you are to pick a creative way to present the material)

If you choose the aging report, your report may be both factual (on what causes aging and how to prevent aging) and imaginative (based on what you think the world would be like if you could live to be 500 – 1000 years old).

Determine which interests you more, find partners to work with you, and fill your names in the blanks below. You will be expected to fill in the roles a bit later as we get into the presentation.

Example: (You don’t have to follow this idea) Partner Names State what you think will be your role in development, research, design, and presentation of topic – (briefly at this point of the presentation) 1. Nelly Furtado Internet researcher on aging information, poster board

2. Linkin’ Park Design of storyboard of what the world will be like in the future, internet research

3. Korn PowerPoint presentation of progeria, interview of an older person

4. Kenny Chesney Organization of project, overseer of jobs, made sure work was divided up equally and all work was being done, Never Say Die video research

YOUR GROUP Partner Names State what you think will be your role in development, research, design, and presentation of topic – (briefly at this point of the presentation) 1.

YOU WILL BE GRADING EACH OTHER ON THEIR PARTICIPATION IN THEIR PART OF THE PROJECT SO MAKE, SO BE SURE YOU CONTRIBUTE TO YOUR GROUP. (be careful who you pick in your group) 3. As a group, brainstorm the following ideas:

-What topic is your presentation going to be about -______(NO REPEATS ON CANCER TYPES)

-How do you want to present the report? (State this briefly on the line below.) You will explain this in detail later.

______-This must be very creative as that is a category that you will be graded on. -Think of something that would interest you and keep you from becoming “bored” if you were watching the presentation. Mix and match the options below. This should keep your presentation interesting. The more variety you use, the better your presentation will be. Thus, you will receive a better grade.

4. HERE ARE SOME POSSIBLE IDEAS FOR CREATING AN INTERESTING PRESENTATION:

1. Tri-fold poster or use glogster.com/edu to make an online poster 2. Pamphlet - (make on computer – Microsoft Publisher) 3. PowerPoint or Google Docs to make a presentation 4. Photostory or Windows Movie Maker – to make videos 5. Skit – this is where you act something out – this may be live or videotaped – I have a camera that you may use here in school 6. Story Telling websites: http://cogdogroo.wikispaces.com/StoryTools - 50 tools for creating a story on the computer, includes the ones below http://www.bubbleshare.com/ http://www.onetruemedia.com/ http://www.slideroll.com/ http://eyespot.com 7. Home video presentations – Example – I had students do a newscast, using updated research, on the 5 different parts we saw in the “Never Say Die” video. They made it look like a broadcast devoted entirely on how to stop the aging process. They also added to it by discussing what they thought the world would be like in the year 2750. (like our journal writing) They had commercials to advertise anti-aging products, etc………… 8. Use ONE NOTE to save your pictures and info. It will import the website that you need to cite. 9. Feel free to come up with any other ways of presenting about your topic.
