Asset Fiscal year Change AJRW

Purpose Use this procedure to open a new year for the posting of assets.

Trigger Perform this procedure when it is necessary to open a new year for the posting of assets.

Prerequisites

 None.

Menu Path Use the following menu path to begin this transaction:

 Select Accounting  Financial Accounting  Fixed Assets  Periodic processing  Fiscal year change to go to the Asset fiscal year change screen.

Transaction Code AJRW

Additional Information

No transactions can be posted in a new fiscal year before the fiscal year change is run. At the change, the asset values from the previous year are carried forward cumulatively into the new year

Once the fiscal year change has taken place, you can post to assets using asset value dates into the new year. If you do post in the old year, SAP automatically corrects the values for the asset in the current (new) fiscal year and in the old year.

The earliest that you can carry out a fiscal year change is the last month of the current year, but you can choose any point in the new fiscal year to do the fiscal year change.

This is NOT the same as Year-end closing for Assets (AJAB) after which you cannot post to the old closed year.

Procedure

1. Start the transaction using the menu path or transaction code AJRW. Asset fiscal year change

2. As required, complete/review the following fields:

Field Name R/O/C Description

Company code(s) R Enter the company code. Example: UNIV New fiscal year R Enter the new fiscal year. Example: 2002 Test run R Leave check box selected.

3. Click on .

You can only carry out a fiscal year change once. SAP carries out the fiscal year change for all assets, even if assets have errors. SAP provides statistics for each company code for the assets that have been changed. SAP writes assets with errors to a work list. You can access a long text for the error messages that appear. The best test that this has worked is that before you run the job, you cannot post to the new year and afterwards you can.
