Projector Bulb Life

1. If you do not need your projector for 15 minutes or more, please use the stand-by setting.

2. If you operate in Eco-Quiet mode, your bulb will last longer. The Eco-Quiet button will dim your bulb by a couple of hundred lumens. The bulb does not shine quite as brightly and the image still looks good. Be sure your projector is set with Eco-Quiet[on]

Bulbs are supposed to last from between 2000 and 3000 hours, about 2 school years. Bulbs are very expensive so, please, follow the guidelines above!

You can check bulb life by following these steps: 1. On projector remote: Press the menu button 2. Scroll across to the 3rd option (before Help) using the arrow keys 3. Bulb life information appears at the bottom of the screen Remaining Bulb Life will appear in: [Hours] [minutes] (percentage)

Bulb Life Indicator on Projectors

All of the Sharp projectors that we have in the District have a special feature. When the projector bulb has reached 5% life, they will automatically display “Change the Lamp” on the screen, the lamp indicator light on the projector panel will go yellow, and the panel will look like this:

At this time, submit a work order with the room number (or cart number if it is on a cart), and indicate that the bulb life warning light is on. The Tech Dept will work with your building to ensure a bulb is ordered and/or in stock. Although 5% life is approximately 200 more hours, do not wait to submit the work order so that the bulbs can be ordered if necessary and the replacement can be scheduled to avoid interruption of classroom instruction.

If this goes ignored and the bulb life reaches 0%, the projector will go into Standby Mode and the lamp indicator light on the projector panel will go red and look like this:

If you attempt to turn on the projector, the bulb will not turn on and the projector will stay in Standby mode. If you try to turn on the projector a fourth time without replacing the lamp, the projector will not turn on, and it will appear that the projector is broken.
