POINT GREY – LORNE REDEVELOPMENT DESIGN COMPETITION

The Great Ocean Road Coast Committee invites multi-disciplinary teams to bring their creative ideas and inspiring design propositions to the Point Grey – Lorne Redevelopment Expressions of Interest and Design Competition.

Great Ocean Road Coast Committee Chief Executive Officer Richard Davies said the competition was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to create something truly unique and distinctive at one of the most outstanding sites in Lorne on the Great Ocean Road.

“Point Grey is of vital importance to both Lorne’s rich history and to its economic future. We have been working closely with the community to develop this project and make Point Grey a destination to stop, spend and stay.”

Expressions of Interest to participate in the Competition are due by 21 December 2017 and will be assessed by a highly credentialed jury including:

Up to four teams will be selected from the Expressions of Interest, and will be invited to participate in a single stage design competition. Competitors are invited to provide creative and inspiring responses to the brief, while are also achievable within the time and budget available. The jury will select a winner from the Stage Two competitors, who will be contracted to deliver design services through to completion, pending planning approval.

The design competition follows a precinct planning process and a completed business case for the project, a number of research papers, workshops, community consultation and public initiatives that have helped develop and form a picture of Point Grey’s potential.

The Point Grey – Lorne Redevelopment project is being overseen by probity advisors Pitcher Partners. Andrew Mackenzie of Citylab is the Competition Advisor for both the Expressions of Interest and Design Competition process.
