DISCIPLINE SPECIFIC INFORMATION School rules as outlined in the school handbook will be followed.

1 ATTENDANCE This is not an online course; therefore, class attendance is mandatory. You are allowed one unexcused absence. Medical excuses require a note from an M.D. Extended illness must be cleared through the associate provost. Attendance will be taken every class by requiring a sign in. Excessive absences will be reflected in a one grade lowering for every excess absence.

SYLLABUS ADDENDUM The college-wide attendance policy is included in the Syllabus Addendum, which is incorporated by reference herein. http://www/spcollege.edu/central/asa/addendum.htm. The policy notes that each instructor is to exercise personal judgment and define “active participation” in class (and therefore “attendance”), and publish that definition in each syllabus. Note this is not an online course. You are allowed one absence. Your final grade will be adjusted accordingly for excessive absence (e.g. an A will drop to a B with one excess absence; for 2 excess absences, the grade will drop to a C). Medical excuses and family emergencies require appropriate documentation. You will be considered as not active in the course if you have more than two unexcused absences.

GRADING There are no extra credit assignments. Grades will be assigned by letter with the following scale:

A = 90 - 100 B = 80 - 89 C = 70 - 79 D = 60 – 69 F = Below 60

Midterm = 30% of total course grade Final = 30% of total course grade Paper = 10% of total course grade Class Quizzes and Tests = 30% of total course grade (They will be announced, and often will be in essay format.)

2 ASSIGNMENTS You are required to have materials in on time. There is a 25% penalty for a late term paper. No disks are acceptable. Two copies of the paper need to be handed in. I keep one and you will get the other one with comments. All papers should be typed, double spaced, and use MLA or APA format. The paper asks the question, “Should psychology be used to match people for life?” E Power.com uses the Meyers Briggs with permission to match people. Paper should be 1500 words long.
