JOB DESCRIPTION

XG Sciences, Inc. is seeking an Application Development Engineer for the full-time position to assist with the evaluation and further development of various polymer composites for variety of applications with target properties in mechanical properties, electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, dielectric property, abrasion /scratch resistance, and/or barrier property. The Application Development Engineer will conduct laboratory experiments and tests in order to assist a scientist to determine feasibility of new applications and demonstrate product capability. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will be expected to work in the laboratory on a variety of multi-disciplinary projects while focusing on developing new polymer composites. The candidate will perform experiments on a schedule within XG Sciences’ guidelines under the guidance of a technical director. The possible tasks include:  Develop graphene-added polymeric composite products for industrial applications. Participate in product/process development and validation

 Develop dispersion methods and build database for graphene nanoplatelet and related products.

 Set up and maintain necessary equipment; design testing protocols and develop SOPs.

 Provide technical support for customer adoption of XGS’ products as a technical liaison and applications specialist.

 Supervise lab technicians.

 Conduct technical presentations at customer sites, conferences, and/or exhibitions.

REQUIREMENTS

The ideal candidate should have knowledge, skills, and abilities listed below:  Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field with more than 3 years of experience in thermoplastic polymer composite.  Experience in fabricating thermoplastic polymer composites (extrusion, injection molding, blow molding, compression molding, pultrusion, etc.).  Experience in analyzing mechanical, electrical, thermal, and other properties of polymer composites.  Experience in handling chemicals including strong acids and bases.  Experience in operating, cleaning, calibrating, and maintaining instrument such as Extruder, Injection Molder, Heat Press, Universal Testing Machine, Impact Tester, Abrasion Tester, etc.  Understand and maintain a safe and sterile laboratory environment.  Excellent written and oral communication skills.  Ability to function as a part of a team and work closely with other team members in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
