CANDIDATES AND BIOS FOR DWS BOARD OR DIRECTORS

ELIZABETH COLLARD – PRESIDENT Fleur-de-Lis Studio Original Watercolor Paintings and Fine Decorative Arts

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Elizabeth Collard is an award-winning artist whose works have been selected for entry into numerous juried fine arts and fine handcraft arts shows. Collard is a juried signature member of the Baltimore Watercolor Society, and Potomac Valley Watercolorists. She is also a member of The Delaware Watercolor Society, the Rehoboth Art League, the Art League of Ocean City, Millsboro Art League, Bethany Beach Watercolor Society, The Guild of Silk Painters (U.K.) and Silk Painters International.

She has been active in a number of art organizations. She currently serves as Vice President of DWS and has been a member of the Board for the past three years. Her responsibilities include acting as Chair for the Signature Selection Process and management of the 2nd Tuesday meetings. Collard served on the Baltimore Watercolor Society Board for several years holding the following positions: Newsletter Editor, Treasurer, and Chair – Mid-Atlantic Regional Exhibition Awards. She has also served as President of the Laurel Art Guild in Laurel, Maryland and as a member of the Board of the Milton Art Guild, Milton DE.

Collard works primarily in watercolor, concentrating on compositions, which have floral themes, choosing to capture nature's beauty and bring it indoors through her paintings. She also creates original paintings on silk, and on wood surfaces. Along with her large watercolor paintings, she creates original watercolor jewelry, silk wearing apparel, "Garden Fence" wall hangings, wall murals, floor cloths and painted furniture.

She has been teaching watercolor classes at the beginning and intermediate and advanced levels since 1998 and silk painting classes and workshops since 2002. Her absolute conviction that watercolor, silk painting or any type of painting is a skill to be learned and not one that you are necessarily born with is at the root of her teaching. She encourages everyone with an interest to give it a try. She believes wholeheartedly that you get out of watercolor painting what you put into it. Her efforts haven’t gone un-rewarded. She operates her own company, Fleur-de-Lis Studio and is very happy with the frequent sales of her original art. Her works are included in numerous private collections through out the United States and Europe. Several Fine Arts and specialty shops in Maryland, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Florida and Brussels, Belgium have carried her work.

ISABEL PIZZOLATO – VICE PRESIDENT I would like to submit my name, Isabel Pizzolato, as a candidate for vice president of the Delaware Watercolor Society.

I have served on the DWS Board of Directors since 2009, as treasurer, maintaining the financial and membership records for the organization and at times, functioning as the secretary. As an active member, I have been proud to be part of the decision making which has brought DWS to its present, vibrant, state. A background of forty years in the banking industry, working in a management position that involved training and motivating staff as well as representing the bank at various social functions has provided me with many skills. During my banking career I was an active member of Rotary and held each of the officer's position and served twice as club president. If elected as vice president of Delaware Watercolor Society, I will commit to continued service to the club and to serve to the best of my ability. LYNN BRITTINGHAM – TREASURER My name is Lynn Brittingham and I am currently Secretary for Delaware Watercolor Society. I have enjoyed being Secretary but I would like to change my focus and run as a candidate for Treasurer. Before moving to Delaware I worked as an accountant in both public and private companies in Wisconsin. DIANN CORSNITZ – SECRETARY

To: DWS Nominating Group From: Diann Corsnitz 300 Lakeside Drive Lewes, DE 19958 302-827-2193 [email protected]

I have always been involved with some sort of arts & crafts and began taking watercolor classes about two years ago. This is my first real involvement with watercolor and I enjoy what I am doing. I am currently a member of DWS, attending the monthly 2nd Tuesday meetings and helping out when I can.

I have the desire to help out in a more active way by offering my services as DWS Secretary. I am punctual, dependable and creative with the skills necessary to fulfill the qualifications for the Secretary position.

I am relatively new to the Lewes area having retired from Boeing in Seattle in 2010. I held the position of Systems Programmer Analyst. Before attending college, I worked as a secretary in the medical fields. I graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Computer Science from Drexel University and with a Master’s of Computer Science from Villanova University. My computer positions required both an attention to detail and adherence to schedule. Advanced computer positions require the accurate and timely creation of proposals and documentation. Throughout my career I have used the Microsoft Suite of Software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.

Please consider my application for the DWS position of Secretary. RITA POORE - EXHIBITIONS DIRECTOR

Hello, my name is Rita Poore. I am interested in serving as the Exhibitions Director for the Society.

I've been painting in the watercolor medium for 3 years now. I study with Elizabeth Collard and have taken workshops with Janet Rogers and Don Blow (through DWS), plus Susan Sugar (Plein Air in Key West through The Studios of Key West). Prior to diving into watercolor, I painted in acrylics on and off for 10 years, mostly self taught. I still take a workshop with Rick Worth every December at the Studios of Key West.

I've been active in DWS for a year now as co-chair of the Hospitality Committee. It's been great getting to know the membership and I'd like to be even more involved.

I feel I do excel at organization for organizations. I spent over 15 years working at various television stations usually serving as the Director of Advertising and Promotions for ABC, CBS, and NBC affiliates. I then became a freelance producer, writer, and director for clients including Discovery Channel, National Geographic Channel, SciFi Channel, and various advertising agencies. In this role, I was often given an "idea" of what the client wanted, and then it was up to me to develop, design, produce, and deliver the "idea" in the fashion needed and sometimes giving them a little more. Freelancing demands a lot of self-starting, getting to know the needs and wants of people you've just met, coordinating crews, workloads, and meeting deadlines all within budget, and generally just being able to take the ball and run with it.

For five years I served on the Decorating Committee for the Autumn Jazz Festival here in Rehoboth Beach, the last year serving as Chairperson of the committee. This was truly a job of doing something with almost nothing. A very limited budget stretched our committee's creativity each year, but we always managed to "wow" the crowd with a new theme every year, providing room decoration and table decor for over 40 tables each year for the Opening Event.

While I would have a lot to learn doing this position, I believe the experience I gained in my professional and volunteer life would help me get the Exhibitions Directors job done. ANNE CROWN-CYR - COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR

As President and founding member of the Delaware Watercolor Society for the last eight years, I have been responsible for developing and promoting DWS, its programs, and activities. I have been able to get things done while fostering a positive team approach that promotes creative thinking to problem solving.

A brief summary of my experience is listed in the following bulleted items:

● Wrote press releases, obtained jurors and venues for exhibitions and receptions, for all aspects of these events. ● Initiated and coordinated outreach programs to enhance the society’s mission and benefit participants and non-profit groups such as the Cape Henlopen High School, Rehoboth Elementary, and the Lewes Library. Proceeds from our member show at the Rehoboth Beach Yacht and Country Club went to Cape Henlopen High School art students. Other outreach efforts included fund raising for the art program at Rehoboth Elementary and the Lewes Library watercolor workshops for beginning artists which began last year and is ongoing. ● Served as press contact for Rehoboth Beach Writers’ Guild 2007 Conference. Developed press kits, contacted local media, and responded to media queries.

As Communications Director, I also bring to DWS more 30 years of experience in writing, editing, and publishing:

● Managed and developed all aspects of publications, graphics, audiovisual, exhibit, videoconference, web, and public affairs programs for OSHA’s Office of Public Affairs. ● Developed high-quality products consistent in style, format, and organization suitable for target audiences. ● Managed diverse public affairs staff in the day-to-day operations and functions of a public affairs office and related programs and products. ● Managed the development and dissemination of communication, outreach, and education programs, including Hispanic, customer service, small business, and Internet initiatives. ● Developed and recommended communications and customer service strategies Established the agency’s award-winning magazine, Job Safety & Health Quarterly, and served as Executive Editor of the four-color publication.

In sum, I believe my background and experience would continue to help promote DWS in a positive way while meeting organizational goals.
