Minutes Minutes of the 2000 AGM, held on 10th November, were circulated and agreed (nem. con.) as an accurate account of the meeting.

Matters arising

Jim MacIntyre enquired who if anything has happening in regard to the Ferguson Bequest purchasing some sort of corporate golf package. The secretary responded that as far as he was aware the Ferguson Bequest committee have no plans, or indeed funds, to replace the arrangement we used to enjoy at Westerwood. It was suggested that the Ferguson Bequest committee should consider membership at one of the following 1. World of Golf 2. Southern Gailes 3. South Lanarkshire Council. It was further pointed out that without a home course then affiliation to the SGU and issuing of offical handicap would be impossible. The secretary agreeded to approach the Ferguson Bequest committee again on this matter.

Captain's report

The usual compliment of five outings had been played in 2001, first up was Prestwick St Nicholas, choosen as a links course as insurance against bad weather, where 23 member played and was won by Colin McGregor with an outstanding 44pts. The second outing was held at my home course of Cardross on a fine sunny day in May with unfortunately only 15 members in attendance and was won by Jim MacIntyre. Next on the roster was Ranfurly Castle, the home course of our treasurer, who duly triumphed over a field of 18 members. As an experiment, the fourth outing of the year was held in the morning at Cawder Golf Club, the idea being that those who wished to make a day of it, could play a second round in the afternoon on the second course. The turnout for this outing was only 10, of whom 8 stayed on to play in the afternoon, so it would appear that the experiment was a success and that this format should be tried again next year, at another club which has two courses. Finally, at the last outing of the year, we once again played for the Quaich at Carnwath on a splendid autumnal day. In an very close finish Laurie Hunter pipped both Keith Johnson and Gordon Fell, by 1 point, to lift the Quaich.

The Club was fortunate again in having been granted £750 from the Ferguson Bequest. This had been used to subsidise each of the above outings. Committee would be writing to the Trustees with an account of the activities and to express our appreciation. It was certainly our intention to apply again this session for a grant for activities in 2002.

The match against Strathclyde University Staff Golf Club was played over their course at Ross Priory, after successful negotiations regarding the cost of the outing with the manangement of course. Once again this match was played in the worst of conditions but in the best of spirits and we emerged victorious by the narrowest of margins.

The various stages of this years competitions where almost all played by the published deadlines and only one serious extention was sought, in the fourball competition, which was granted. Unfortunately it was not possible to arrange for the all the final matches to be played on a Finals day but we will continue to attempt to do so in the future. The results were as follows

David Cunningham beat Chris Taylor at Cardross Golf Club
