APRC TIMELINE FOR THE REVIEW OF NEW PROGRAM PROPOSALS

Introduction

Proposals for new programs must be approved by the end of the fall semester in order to be implemented the following fall. The sample timeline outlined below will ensure timely review and implementation. Please refer to the APRC New Program Proposal guidelines for detailed information on the required proposal components.

Factors Impacting the Timeline for APRC Review of New Program Proposals

The timeline for APRC evaluation of new or modified program proposals is impacted by factors external to the committee, such as:

Registrar’s Office All approved new curricula or modifications to curricula must be submitted to the Registrar by the end of January so that the appropriate changes can be implemented in Banner prior to spring

Approved February 20, 2017 2 registration. As a result, no program proposals can be considered in the spring for fall implementation in the same calendar year.

Provost’s Approval The Provost must approve all new or modified curricula before they are sent to the Registrar. To allow at least two weeks for the Provost to review and approve the proposal in time to meet the Registrar’s deadline, the APRC needs to send its recommendation to the Provost by the end of fall semester.

*The Provost may request an earlier deadline for his approval of the new or modified program if there are significant implementation issues to address prior to launching the program. In such cases, the Provost typically requests the APRC recommendation by October 1.
