Part 1 - General 1.01 Scope of Work A. Furnish and install a Green Paks system in accordance with specifications as provided by Green Roof Blocks.

1.04 System Description A. Green Paks used to ballast single ply roof membrane. B. Green Paks placed over adhered or partially attached roofing systems.
1.05 Submittals A. Submit manufacturer's installation specifications. B. Submit copy of Green Paks warranty. C. Submit performance testing.
1.06 Quality Assurance A. High density polyethylene thread knitted into uniform fabric modules with engineered growth media sewn into the module using UV resistant thread with no sharp or irregular surfaces that may cause injury or damage roofing. B. Growth medium mineral content 80% minimum. C. Geo-textile drainage product with root barrier and protective felt as approved by the roofing membrane manufacturer. D. Plants in healthy condition and properly embedded in growth medium.

Deliver materials in good condition free from shipping damage and ready for installation. B. Keep protective cover on materials stored on the jobsite. C. Handle materials to prevent damage. D. Do not exceed the structural capacity of deck if placing Green Paks on the roof. E. Protect membrane and installed areas of Green Paks from damage when transporting pallets of Green Paks or other material. Place ¾ inch plywood sheets in traffic path or use carts with pneumatic tires.
1.08 Warranty A. Plants carry a one year limited warranty against disease and defect. B. All Green Paks carry a twenty year limited warranty.

2.02 Materials A. Green Paks
2.03 Related Materials A. Optional irrigation materials. B. Optional geo-textile drainage product: in accordance with roofing manufacturer specifications. C. Metal terminations used to retain or secure Green Paks shall be manufactured by Green Roof Blocks, Metal Era, W.P. Hickman or an approved equal. D. Paver blocks used in conjunction with Green Paks shall be approved by the membrane manufacturer.
Part 3 - Execution 3.01 Preparation of Surface A. Comply with manufacturer's instructions for preparation of substrate to receive membrane roofing system. If required by membrane manufacturer or if limited foot traffic is anticipated install a slip sheet as recommended by the membrane manufacturer.
3.02 Green Paks System Designs A. Green Paks roof greening system used to ballast roofing system 1. Install roof ballast pavers at roof edges, around mechanical equipment, and along access path ways. 2. Install Green Paks in straight bond using roof ballast pavers to fill in areas not covered with Green Paks. 3. Fit Green Paks modules tightly together and level growth media within the module to establish a uniform planting surface. 4. Install optional irrigation system. 5. Use a slip sheet between the pavers and the roof membrane at designated areas of foot traffic and at mechanical units. 6. At ridges or valleys, cut to fit roof ballast pavers or form Green Paks to fit irregular shaped areas.

B. Green Paks roof greening system resting on adhered or partially attached roofing systems 1. Install roof ballast pavers to establish a 6 foot wide no-vegetation zone at all vertical surfaces that are constructed of combustible materials, or cover all vertical surfaces constructed of combustible materials with a Class A rated surface treatment extending 6 feet from the vertical surface. Use roof ballast pavers or membrane manufacturer’s walk way material to establish access walk ways as required for egress and maintenance of mechanical equipment. 2. Install Green Paks in straight bond using roof ballast pavers to fill in areas not covered with Green Paks, or coat areas not covered by Green Paks with white roof coating. 3. Fit Green Paks modules tightly together and level growth media within the module to establish a uniform planting surface. 4. Install optional irrigation system. 5. Use a slip sheet between the pavers and the roof membrane at designated areas of foot traffic and at mechanical units. 6.
