1 | P a g e NEWS BULLETIN SCRIPT 星期三, 六月 06, 2018 03 June 2015 The committee handling preparations for next week’s 4th Independence Day celebrations says arrangements have been completed to mark the day.

The country will mark its 4th Independence anniversary on Thursday 9th July.

The minister in the office the President Gol Riak briefed the regular council of ministers meeting in Juba today on the progress of the preparations.

Deputy Minister of Information Rachel Nyadak Paul told journalists after the meeting that the committee is now putting final touches to the arrangements.

“This celebration is now looking colorful and it is going to be more beautiful than the previous celebration that we made. Everything has been put in place; we are just waiting for the day. The few things that remain are small touches, but everything has been appreciated by eth council and everything has been put in place.” The Council has also directed security ministers to tighten security across the country.

This follows a briefing by the Minister of defense on the security situation in the capital Juba and other States.

Deputy Information Minister Rachel Nyadak says looting still continues in Juba despite the presence of the security personnel.

Nyadak says some of the suspects have been arrested.

She also revealed that clashes between some cattle keepers in lakes State and Warrap State have left at least one person killed and other injured. Nyadak says some of the suspects involved in the clashes have been arrested.

2 | P a g e NEWS BULLETIN SCRIPT 星期三, 六月 06, 2018 03 June 2015 Staying with the Council, the cabinet has resolved to dispatch a team to Cairo, Egypt to look into the grievances of South Sudanese University students.

The students have been camped at the South Sudanese embassy in Cairo for nearly 2 weeks demanding payment of allowances.

The 160 students say they are entitled to 160 dollars per month in stipends.

The African Union High Representative for South Sudan is in the country for a one day visit.

Former Malian President Alpha Oumar Konaré flew in this morning to meet with government officials as part of his assignment to enhance mediation efforts between the government and the SPLM-in the opposition.

Konaré’s appointment was announced exactly one month ago.

He is tasked with maintaining close contact with both parties and interacting with IGAD leaders, the AU, stakeholders and International actors, in support of African-led efforts to ending the crisis.

The United Nations is sending a team of monitors to South Sudan to assess reported human rights violations in the country.

The 47-member UN Human Rights Council headquartered in Geneva decided to send a team of monitors to investigate further the reports, with a view to ensuring accountability. It is not clear yet, when the team will be arriving.

At least 15 people have been killed and 21 people wounded in Cueibet County of Lakes state after clashes between the Pan-Awuor and Pan-Aguong communities on Thursday evening.

Some of the doctors have already been given assignments at stations across the country, while others are awaiting deployment by the National Ministry of Health.

One of the Doctors, Jimmy Okumo, told Radio Miraya from his new station in Rumbek that their medical studies were spread out in different universities.

“We are doctors graduated from several universities………………..not ready to come back now according to their statements in Khartoum.”

The girls’ hostel at the University of Juba has got a new borehole. The hand pump worth 150-thousand pounds was a donation from, Afri General Trading Lt and Las Logistics businesses. Speaking on behalf of the two companies, Mogos Belay says they will consider constructing a fence and improved toilets for the hostel.

And then part of that now we are doing this borehole here in Juba University. This is just starting to help this university in future; we see they have a lot of challenges with the toilets, or the dormitory even the fence then we will cooperate with that one. We will consider how to do it one by one small by small.”

5 | P a g e NEWS BULLETIN SCRIPT 星期三, 六月 06, 2018 03 June 2015 More than 20 suspected cases of cholera have been reported in Kajo-Keji County of Central Equatoria.

The administrator of Kajo Keji hospital, Simon Sekwat told radio Miraya that samples of the suspected cases have been sent to Juba for testing.

Sekwat says out of the twenty one admissions, 18 improved and have since been discharged. He says there are no deaths reported.

“The task force has been sending groups to the sight over six villages where these people come from to study the contacts and try to see the extend of this specific cases .I think there are no alarming report since they have been going out. So we are still treating it as suspected Cholera and we are taking more precautions because we know we are also directly connected to Juba.”

In Juba County, the number of reported cases now stands at 523 with 29 deaths.

Boay John will join 9 other writers from the rest of the world - at the Arab Fund for Arts and Culture - in the Lebanese Capital Beirut.

At the culture event, Boay John, who is also a medical student, will present the first chapter of his upcoming novel, titled Digging up the memory dead.

He gives more details of the event.

“We are going to participate in the workshop to aim actually to enhance the abilities of participants in terms of actually having good skills in creative writing. We are ten in numbers from different countries we are going to present the first chapters of our work. These chapters will be subjected debate and subjected to a deep discussion.”

The LOGOSEED project is funded by the World Bank and has completed six projects in Ezo and Ibba counties.

“LOGOSEED started in two Counties in Western Equatoria State that is Ibba and Ezo and in Ibba and Ezo we have six projects, in Ibba we have a project of PHCU and then we have repairing of some boreholes and then the opening of feeder roads which is called Moruko. And in Ezo we have three facilities, two primary schools one in Diabio and then one in Andari that is in Naandi and Andari Payam and then PHCU in Baikpa. This project in Western Equatoria state has cost one point two million Sudanese pounds for both Ezo and Ibba and in Ezo we have eight hundred and seventy four thousand four hundred and ten SSP and in Ibba we have three hundred and fifty six thousand five hundred and eighteen SSP.”

Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Acting Minister of Health, Gibson Bullen Wande said the initiative is a clear sign of the dream of taking town to the village.

The changes are in line with a new finance act that was approved by the country’s National Parliament and endorsed in May.

An official at the Ugandan embassy in Juba confirms the development and says official notification is yet to be sent out.
