What Man Among You Having a Hundred Sheep and Losing One of Them Would Not Leave The

November 8, 2012 "What man among you having a hundred sheep and losing one of them would not leave the ninety-nine in the desert and go after the lost one until he finds it? And when he does find it, he sets it on his shoulders with great joy and, upon his arrival home, he calls together his friends and neighbors and says to them, 'Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.'” -Luke 15: 4-6 Dear Families, Today’s Gospel reminds us that Jesus is the Good Shepherd and we are his sheep. Just as a shepherd cares about each one of his sheep and does everything in his power to keep them safe, so Jesus cares about each one of us and wants us to be safe, happy, and healthy. There is comfort in knowing that someone cares and loves us so very much. As God loves us this much, so we must love one another. As always, there are many wonderful things going on here at St. Rose. Please read on:

Lunches: Please see attached letter to order the school lunch for your child for the week of November 19- 21.

Winter Weather: Just a reminder that if you have any uncertainty about school due to weather, closings will be posted on Channel 4 (WBZ), Channel 5 (WCVB), Channel 7 (NBC), Channel 56 (CW), and Fox 25. You can also see closings on the websites of any of these stations. Additionally, Ms. Keeton updates Facebook and Twitter when school is closed due to weather. Also, please make sure your child is appropriately dressed for the weather in the morning. If it is raining or rain is in the forecast, please send him/her with a raincoat. If it is snowing/icy, students may wear boots, but they need to bring shoes to change into once they arrive. Also, please make sure they have a warm coat, hat, scarf, and mittens or gloves. Girls should either wear pants or tights with their skorts. Let us know if you have any questions. Thank you.

Cookie Fundraiser: Cookie orders are due NEXT THURSDAY, November 15. We ask that each student sell at least one box of cookie dough. The nice thing about David’s Cookies is that it is super easy and convenient; you just pop it in the oven and it’s good to go! Perfect for the holiday season, when you have visitors in your home!

THANKSGIVING VACATION: Please know that we will dismiss early on Wednesday, November 21 (11:30AM) for the Thanksgiving holiday, and there will be NO SCHOOL on Thursday or Friday (Nov. 22- 23). THERE WILL BE NO AFTER SCHOOL ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 21. ALL STUDENTS MUST BE PICKED UP AT 11:30. Enjoy this special holiday! We have much for which to be thankful.

November: The Month of All Souls: During the month of November, we remember our loved ones who have died. In the spirit of Dia de los Muertos, we will turn one of the tables in the front lobby into an altar for the month of November. Everyone is invited to bring in pictures or prayer cards to place on the altar. We will pray for everyone on our altar at community gathering each day during the month of November.

FTO: We are pleased to announce that in order to maximize parent involvement in FTO, we will now have meetings at both 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM on the dates of FTO meetings. If you are unable to attend the evening meeting, please consider coming to the morning meeting. Thank you! Choir Practice: In addition to the Wednesday afternoon practice, Mr. Dery is adding a second choir practice time, which will be at 7:15AM on Mondays. Students in the choir may come early to get in some extra rehearsal time. Please note, this is optional. We know everyone can’t get to school this early.

St. Rose Calendars: Need a desk calendar for next year? We have some beautiful ones with fantastic pictures of St. Rose students for sale in the office for only $15.00. Buy yours today!

Missionary Childhood Association: During the month of November, we invite everyone to “Give Thanks by Giving Back.” Our Missions this month will go to the Missionary Childhood Association (formerly the Holy Childhood Association). It is all about kids helping kids. For more information, please visit: www.hcakids.org.

Mobile Dentist: Don’t forget to send in permission slips for Forsyth Kids Mobile Dentist! This is a great opportunity for your child to have his/her teeth cleaned free of charge! The first visit is coming up next Wednesday, November 14. You must have submitted paperwork for your child to participate. See Mr. MacNeil for more info.

Trash as Art: Before you throw out your old coffee cans and egg cartons, please consider donating them either to our art teacher, Mrs. Parrella, or our K0 and K1 teachers, who frequently use these kinds of items with the OWL curriculum. If you are unsure if a certain item can be used or not, just ask! Thanks!

Box Tops: Please remember to cut box tops and bring them in; they help our school! We earn $0.10 for each box top we send in! This is a quick and easy way to help the school!

First Communion: If there are any children in Grades 3-8 who have not yet received their first communion but would like to, please speak with me so we can see about getting you involved in the classes. Thanks!
