The Walking School - Hangzhou

Congratulations! Today is your day. You're off to Great Places! You're off and away! – Dr. Seuss

In today’s competitive world, there’s no doubt that doing well in exams is an important part of education. But it should not be the only part of education.

The Walking School’s name comes from believing in active body active mind. Sitting within the four walls of a class-room, there are limits to how much we can learn. The Walking School offers programs to go beyond school work, creating an environment where students are always actively moving, thinking and being creative. The class is enriching, educational and importantly enjoyable.

This program is aimed at 10 to 14 year old children. Groups are limited to no more than 8 student participants to ensure high individual attention and teacher interaction. This is an intense 4 day program, split over two weekends. It is explicitly NOT a holiday. Participating students should expect a full day of class with a large amount of class interaction coupled with mental and physical activity. There are assignments and homework.

Parents are encouraged to accompany their children and are free to observe during class time. A separate space will also be arranged for parents to engage with each other.

Communication and Culture

There are four communication skills that we will be working on in this program. Active listening and memory, confident speaking, emotional and persuasive reading, concise and creative writing. This will be taught against the backdrop of Chinese culture and history. We will be visiting cultural landmarks and galleries in Hangzhou, China.
