With this shift comes specific needs that many therapists may not recognize. Director and Dr. Kelly Collins, BBHL chairperson ETHICS 3. “Resources for our Forces: From Veterans/Families Who Have Been There” Part 1 – Cindy Collins-Clark, LPC and VFU Founder This session includes excellent information from outstanding panel members: Wendy Nix, NAMI Adult and Family Programs; Waco Blakely, VA Transition Patient Advocate VAMC; Kerry Mucker, ODMHSAS Specialty Courts Veterans Liaison; Shane McKinley, Board Member; Rachel Runfola, CSC Tulsa Program Manager, BRRX4VETS 4. “What’s New in Oklahoma’s Drug Use” – Dub Turner, OSBN Substance abuse is a continuing problem with many Oklahomans. This session will provide information regarding current trends and substances.

5. “Using the Trauma Egg with Children and Adults” – Johnie Fredman, LPC The Trauma Egg is a simple but effective tool that can be used with almost any client. Come join us as we explore and experience this valuable tool.

A focus on stress and burnout will be included. 9. “How Does Career Counseling Intersect with Different Clinical Specializations?” – Lawrence Richardson, M.A., Career Development Specialist Career counseling is a niche specialization that most counselors do not consider their scope of practice. This session focuses on bringing the aspects and principles of career counseling to other specializations of counseling, such as mental health, addiction, school, and others. 10. “Moral Injury” – Steven Scruggs, Psy.D., Admin. Dir., Trauma and Deployment Recovery Svcs./OKVA Health Care System Moral Injury is an emerging concept that complements the treatment of PTSD, referring to the impact of actions that result from serving in combat that create inner conflict. Research related to moral injury will be reviewed along with suggestions for treatment.

Col. Mike Etzler (Ret.), LPC In the US population, 80% will experience a traumatic event in their lifetime. Few trauma survivors, including only 25% of veterans and first-responders seek help with PTSD, and many others drop out of treatment. All humans play games. No one is exempt. In this workshop, people will learn why we play games, how to identify the steps of a game, and how to avoid game playing. 19. “PTSD Treatment: New Research” Part 2– Lt. Col. 1:30pm – 3:00pm Breakout Sessions 1.5 CEU *SCHOOL COUNSELOR TRACK-- Practical Solutions for Children with Challenging Behaviors: What to do when you have exhausted your options? 21. *“Suicide Prevention” Part 1 – Julie Geddes, Sr. Field Rep/Suicide Prevention OSDMHSA Schools are often faced with students who may exhibit warning signs and the school counselor has questions such as: When do I act? Where do I send those students? Should I track these referrals? What if a student doesn’t get help? What do I do about the student’s reintegration back into the school day? 22. *Trust-Based Relational Intervention” – Kris Bryant, LPC Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) is an attachment based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the needs of vulnerable children. 23. “Ethics in Counseling” Part 1 – Amy Barnett, PH.D., LPC, BBHL member

3 This session will provide attendees with a chance to hear from a member of the Board of Behavioral Health Licensure regarding the most challenging ethical situations. Additionally, ethical complaints being handled by the Board will be discussed. Ethics 24. “DSM-5 and the Military Related Client – Ethical and Cultural Issues in Diagnosis” –- Ben Noah, Ph.D., LPC The DSM-5 and the ACA Code of Ethics call for clinicians to be culturally sensitive when making a diagnosis. Studies have shown that counselors are unsure of their knowledge of the military culture. This session will review these considerations when working with military members, Veterans, and their families. ETHICS 25. “Technology-Assisted Distance Counseling Supervision: Tools for Enhancing the Process” – K.Dunbar Davison, Ph.D., LPC supervisor, NCC; Candace McLain-Tait, Ed.D., LPC, ACS; Joelle France, Walden faculty Distance supervision requires strong supervisory relationships. Therefore, it is necessary for supervisors to have empirically sound creative technological tools to provide the highest standards of supervision. 29. “Cultural Competencies in Counseling” – Usha Fountain, Ph.D. Individuals are shaped by their unique experiences in a cultural environment. Their behavior and practices are shaped by their culturally unique environment. The complexity of diverse populations necessitates not only a multicultural approach to counseling but also counseling that is multidimensional in nature. 30. “Animal-assisted Therapy: Using Service Animals and Emotional Support Animals” – James Bywater, LPC This session will provide you with information covering recent laws/regulations, ethics, benefits, considerations, certifications, and uses in and out of therapy sessions with therapy animals. Participants will also have the opportunity to meet a canine who is dual certified as a Service dog and Therapy dog.
