At most locations where I was involved with plant updates the plant control was provided by Motorola MOSCAD PLCs (the MOSCAD-L variant was used at a few locations), and AB SLC 500 series (5/02, 5/03 and 5/05 were the most common types) at other locations.

20 Aug 2001 – 13 Aug 2004 Gippsland Water, Environment and Planning Division SCADA and Controls Engineer Duties involved: - Modifying plant to permit collection of plant information (digital and analogue) by a SCADA system. - Configuring SCADA system to display data and, where applicable, generate alarms. - Creation of SCADA reports to provide information, derived from raw data, in readily usable form. - Designing and implementing improvements to the process control systems at various plants to aid control, improve efficiency and/or reduce expenditures (energy and/or process chemicals). - Provide technical assistance to aid in fault finding on operational plant.

- 7 - Kevin Ettery CURRICULUM VITAE

The SCADA applications I was involved with modifying were the Citect system (at most water and wastewater treatment plants) and the Rubicon ScadaConnect package (used to view plant and pump station data remotely). The PLCs I was involved with updating were the AB SLC 500 series (the 5/02, 5/03, 5/04 and 5/05 were all types encountered), Motorola MOSCAD PLCs at many of the pump stations, a number of MOSCAD-L PLCs, several Siemens S5 series PLCs and a KOYO PLC at one plant (model DL405). Several of the jobs also involved configuring and updating the ProFace series operator interface panels.

One job of note I was involved with (at Morwell WasteWater Treatment Plant) involved implementing a DeviceNet network to expand an existing AB PLC installation – this job also involved creating a new Citect project for this plant (one did not exist previously). A direct benefit of this project was improved monitoring and control of chemical dosing, resulting in significant saving in operational costs. A second job of note involved implementing a Modbus link (at Moe WasteWater Treatment Plant) between the KOYO PLC (mentioned above) and a SLC PLC existing at the plant Inlet Works, in order to enable Citect to access data from this PLC – this link being the cheapest and most cost effective method to provide required functionality.

1 Jul 1998 - 22 Dec 2000 ACTEW Corporation, Field Services & Projects Branch Electrical Project Engineer Duties involved new plant installations and upgrades to existing plant in Canberra's water supply and sewerage treatment installations (which are continuous process control plants with modern process control and monitoring systems), as well as at other sites around Canberra. These projects involve both PLC and non-PLC based systems. Duties covered: - Preliminary and detailed design. - Design documentation. - Cost estimating. - Tender assessment. - Construction supervision. - Contract management. - Testing and Commissioning. - Production of Operation & Maintenance Manuals. - Maintenance of equipment. - Fault finding on operational plant.

Most of the PLCs I worked on were the Square-D 8010 series PLCs (the 300, 700, 400 and 650 models were the main ones encountered).
