Relevant Experience in Educational / Public School Settings: Our experience in pilot sites tells us that coaches must intimately understand the peculiar language, experiences and stressors of teachers, administrators and other educational staff in order to provide credible leadership in changing their philosophy and approaches to discipline. We are looking for coaches with direct experience in public school settings.

5 VII. Professional Development Training and Group Facilitation Skills: 'KIDS' Coaches will be expected to assist their KIDS team in developing and delivering training for the entire school faculty to convey and communicate ideas, skills and content received at quarterly KIDS trainings. Throughout the implementation process , group facilitation skills are needed to assist and guide school faculty in effective participatory decision-making processes so that all staff stay involved and committed to the project. Coaches also work extensively with the team.

VIII. Professional References: Please attach any reference letter(s) which support your KIDS Coach Application. Recommendations should specifically address your qualifications and skills (e.g., behavioral, consultation, or training expertise) relative to this project. A letter might also express district level support and interest in your participation.

6 IX. List of Assurance Statements Submission of a KIDS Coach Application requires a commitment which includes certain individual and district-level assurances listed below. An attempt will be made to match coaches to schools located in or near their geographical area.

KIDS Coach Applicant - Personal Assurances: A. I agree to assist one KIDS School (as assigned) for 2-3 years in the implementation of a proactive instructional discipline approach schoolwide and in the creation of a multi-level intervention system.

B. I agree to attend all KIDS Training sessions (8-10 days/yr) for 2-3 years, and all KIDS Coach Meetings (2-5 additional days/yr).

C. I agree to provide follow-up support and assistance to my KIDS School between trainings, through on-site visitation (~5 days/yr) and telephone technical assistance as needed.

D. I agree to assist my KIDS School in project data collection and reporting.

E. I agree to assist my KIDS team in working with and communicating ideas to their larger faculty through faculty training, brokering outside assistance when needed, and in large or small group meeting facilitation.

F. I am interested in learning about this approach in-depth and preparing myself to potentially become a future KIDS Trainer (e.g., for my district or the Center for School Safety, etc.).

District Level Assurances: I commit to recognize the value of this applicant's participation in the KIDS project and support this involvement by agreeing to release him/her for roughly 20 days/year for 2-3 years, to work with a project school and attend training. I understand that all expenses for 'coach' travel/ materials will be paid by the project. I further understand that the potential future benefits to our district are numerous. The unique training and implementation experience coaches are provided will allow them to be a powerful resource for capacity-building as future trainers within your district.
