Bryant, Sr., and Emma Tooley Bryant, 23 Pat attended Ninety Six High School and Piedmont Technical 24 College and obtained her paralegal certification from the 25 University of South Carolina; and 26 27 Whereas, Pat began working for the Greenwood County Probate 28 Court in 1977, serving as Probate Court Clerk in the late 1970s and 29 mid-to-late 1980s. In 1993, she started working for the 30 Greenwood County Magistrate Court, where she served as Civil 31 Court Clerk. Her duties included managing small claims and 32 landlord/tenant cases; and 33 34 Whereas, later Pat was promoted to Judicial Assistant. As such, 35 she oversaw all jury trial matters, including docketing, juror 36 summons, payments, transcribing, and preliminary hearing 37 scheduling. In this role, her talents were recognized and she was 38 once again promoted. This time she was elevated to the position of 39 Magistrate Court Administrator. With the promotion came 40 additional administrative and financial duties that were comprised 41 of personnelrelated duties, such as accounting, payroll, and 42 procurement, in addition to assisting the Chief Magistrate with
[3688] 2 1 correspondence and acting as the chief liaison with the South 2 Carolina Judicial Department Case Management System. Her 3 prowess with the S.C. Judicial Department Case Management 4 System was noticed by former Chief Justice Jean Toal of the South 5 Carolina Supreme Court, who chose Pat to coach several other 6 counties across the State in the implementation of the system; and 7 8 Whereas, with the support of her loving husband Jon “Keith” 9 Simpson, daughter Crystal Bullard, and precious grandson 10 Nicholas Boswell, Pat also served honorably as a part-time judge 11 for Greenwood Municipal Court and associate judge for the 12 Municipality of Ware Shoals; and 13 14 Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House of 15 Representatives are grateful for the years of unparalleled 16 dedication that Pat Simpson devoted to the people of Greenwood 17 and wish her many years of enjoyment in her wellearned 18 retirement. Now, therefore, 19 20 Be it resolved by the House of Representatives: 21 22 That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of 23 South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Patricia 24 Bryant Simpson, upon the occasion of her retirement after thirty 25 years of exemplary service, and wish her continued success and 26 happiness in all her future endeavors. 27 28 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to 29 Patricia Bryant Simpson. 30 XX 31
