Sight Word Contract

Check off each activity you complete: o Use string, yarn, Play Doh, or spaghetti to form words o Read a story and find the words in the story o Print words 5 times or more in flour, salt, sugar, sand, pudding, or shaving cream o See how many times you can write each of your words in one minute o Form words out of objects like coins, buttons, beans, or rice o Tape record yourself saying or spelling the words o Use chalk to write words on the sidewalk o Flash card practice o Have someone “write” the words on your back and you guess the word Write your words in sentences (challenge: do not start with the word “I”) o Use crayons or markers to write your words in as many color combinations as possible o Draw a comic strip with the characters saying the words o Print your words with finger-paints or watercolors o Find the letters of your words in a newspaper and cut them out to spell your words o Read a letter from the mail and find your words- list or circle them o Write 3 or more words that rhyme with your words (cat -> fat -> hat -> rat) o Write a paragraph or a story using all of your words o Have someone give you a spelling test of your words o Make a hopscotch board with your words and have someone call out the words for you to jump on o Hide and Seek- have someone hide your words (printed on index cards)- find and read them o Make a set of cards with each word on 2 cards and play memory/concentration o Play tic tac toe with words instead of Xs and Os
