SOP A3.1 Sanitary Facilities Water, Steam, Ice Quality & Supply A Premises SOP A3.1 – A4.1.8 Building Interior Objective: To assure water potability is adequate for manufacturing purposes & follows the standard requirements of Health Canada’s “Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality”. Person Responsible: Plant manager, QA manager or maintenance.

Frequency: Water testing yearly & reports monthly & every 6 months, maintenance daily inspection.

Procedure: Maintenance & QA manager will monthly complete, date & sign Form B1.1 Building Interior inspection report. Maintenance will assure that employee facilities have:  Hot & cold water.  Dispensers for cleaning & drying hands are working: QA manager will monitor supplies.  Adequate floor drainage & ventilation  Equipment has non-corrosive materials  Boiler feed water is monitored.  No cross connection between potable & non-potable water.  Hoses & taps are designed to prevent back flow.  Filters are kept effective & sanitary.  Sufficient hot water is provided for cleanup demands. Procedure: Plant manager: Follow SOP A4 Water Testing.

Corrective Action/Monitoring:  The QA manager or designate will complete a work order outlining the areas that require repair & the expected date of completion. CAF 8  Non-completion of the Maintenance Log/per the schedule will result in Corrective Action as this may lead to more repairs.  The Maintenance Log calendar will be adjusted if repairs noted in the Maintenance Repair Log are too frequent.  The plant manager will review, sign & date the Maintenance Log & the Maintenance Repair Log every 6 months: (End of week 28 with-in 2 weeks).  Office personnel will notify the plant manager when the yearly water test is to be done. See SOP A4 Water Testing. Verification: The plant manager will review, date & sign all completed work orders. The plant manager will review the Maintenance Repair Log & the Maintenance Log every 6 months to assess the maintenance & repairs to equipment.
