Four Types of Financial Aid

1. Scholarships – Awarded based on a particular skill, ability, affiliation, talent or achievement demonstrated by the recipients. Most scholarships do not have to be repaid. However, some scholarships require you to fulfill certain requirements and if you fail to do so then the scholarship reverts to a loan. 2. Grants – Usually offered to students with a financial need and do not have to be repaid. 3. Loans – Can either be federal student loans or a private loan offered by a lender. Must be repaid with interest. 4. Work-Study Programs – Generally federally or state-sponsored and provide the student an income to work on campus. Source: www.kheaa.com
