Columbus Sunrise Rotary Club

COLUMBUS SUNRISE ROTARY CLUB P.O. BOX 1465 Columbus, Indiana 47202 Dear Rotary District 6540 Governor:

As you are aware, in 2012 the Columbus Sunrise Rotary Club issued a Challenge to Rotarians within the three Indiana Districts to purchase the Rotary license plate. The Challenge specified that the District with the highest percentage of sales based on total number of District members would receive a prize of $1,500 and the winning District Governor would direct the use of the prize money for a charitable purpose in his/her District. As a result, the license plate sales increased to 278 and the check was awarded to District 6580, the winner by a close margin: District 6580 (5.85%) District 6560 (5.30%) District 6540 (2.05%) Past District 6580 Governor, Joe Hagedorn was presented with a check for $1,500 in July, which he designated for a beautification project in New Albany, IN.

We are pleased to announce the 2013-14 Challenge with more prizes and more money! We hope that this year’s Challenge will encourage an even greater number of members to purchase the Rotary plate in order to reach our sales goal of 500 plates.

It is imperative that we meet this sales goal in order to ensure that the Indiana Rotary Plate will continue to be available in the future. Indiana is one of only a few states with a Rotary specialty plate, however the BMV may be forced to discontinue production of the plate due to low sales volume ( 500). We need your help to get the word out to all members, friends and family member of Rotarians! With more than 6,000 Rotarians in the State of Indiana with one or more vehicles, it should not be difficult to meet this goal!

In an effort to support the RI End Polio Now campaign, we have added another component to this year’s challenge! For each plate purchased, the Columbus Sunrise Rotary Club will donate $1 to the Rotary International Foundation on behalf of Your District for the End Polio Now initiative.

Please see the attached information that describes the 2013-14 Challenge and the RI Foundation donation.

We appreciate your support with this important endeavor. Please feel free to contact us for more information.

Yours in Rotary Service, Kathy Trotta Cindy Green Trish Moore CSRC President IRLP Co-Chair IRLP Co-Chair 2013-14 Rotary License Plate challenge:

First Place: $2000 Second Place: $1000 Third Place: $ 500

Prize money will be awarded based on the percent of license plate sales by District membership. Rotary plate sales are reported to the CSRC by the BMV on a monthly basis. The total number of plates sold by county within each District is determined from July 1, 2013 – June 30, 2014 and divided by the number of members in the District at the end of June 2014. The District with the greatest percentage of sales/members will be awarded the first place prize. Districts with the second and third place percentages will receive those prize awards. Prize money will be awarded to the 2013-14 District Governors in July 2014.

Example: District A has 2100 members and sold 225 plates (10.71%) 1st place District B has 1750 members and sold 140 plates (8%) 2nd place District C has 3500 members and sold 250 plates (7.14%) 3rd place
