Your 6-month commitment would have you in the Great Northwest from January to June or July to December. Seattle offers a wide variety of activities so whatever your interests, from hiking to pro sports to a night out downtown, Seattle's got it — and you can do it.

Why MSIT? The challenges that are available to students working towards the completion of an undergraduate degree in MIS include the opportunity to implement solutions involving SAP, Siebel, and other 3 rd party systems critical to Microsoft’s success. In addition you may be exposed to new Microsoft enterprise applications such as Exchange, MOM, SMS and others. Before rolling out new Microsoft technology and products to the world, MSIT deploys and supports them internally. That means Microsoft IT personnel are responsible for driving the newest of the new: pre-beta systems the rest of the world hasn't seen yet. They then deliver critical feedback to the product teams to help maximize product quality before release to our customers. As a member of Microsoft IT you will be able to watch your ideas find their way from your mind - to IT projects - to your internal clients and Microsoft’s products - to Microsoft customers’ datacenters.

Examples of positions that past coops/interns have held are: Program Manager As a PM in Microsoft IT you will have a world-class opportunity to blend your business savvy, your management skills and your technical strength to deliver dynamic enterprise-wide solutions. You will work directly with users and development teams to design, implement and manage our latest technology to deliver solutions that solve real IT problems. Responsibilities may include: understanding global business and technical requirements & ensuring the overall quality of deliverables including: business use cases, conceptual design analysis, business requirement documents, functional specifications, data models & data dictionaries and detailed process flow diagrams. Resource allocation and project management skills are also required.

Product Manager Are you a curious person who is always looking for a new ways to improve the way things work? PdMs at Microsoft have the exciting opportunity to be a driving force behind improving excellence in Microsoft’s products and processes. As a PdM you will own the Product end-to-end, across IT, coordinating & communicating across groups to gather user requirements that address the emerging needs of the organization. PdMs serve as the customer interface between customers and the program management / development teams. Product Management is responsible for delivering product plans that contain analytical and evaluative information for the use by others. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the creation of: strategic business plans, vision and scope documents, key performance indicators, as-is and to- be process flow charts, feature maps, content design, business requirements, marketing communication, and project review to management.

Test Engineer Testing is instrumental in ensuring trustworthy computing and quality applications for Microsoft and for our customers. Your understanding of business and technology will flourish and expand in this role. You will be challenged to delve into the “what” of complex business processes while understanding the “how” of the technology and relied upon to always ask the “why” of the specification, design and code. As a tester your responsibilities include understanding of Business Units requirements, participation in specification review, creating test plans, conducting test plan reviews, and test execution/documentation. Your work is critical in assuring the quality, scalability, and maintainability of key enterprise applications. Furthermore, you will develop strong collaborative relationships with Business Unit IT teams. Prioritization skills, managing change, communication skills, and thinking outside of the box are essential.

Operations Analyst What does it take to keep Microsoft Enterprise Data Centers running 7x24x365, support large clients like microsoft.com or Xbox, and work on Microsoft’s cutting edge infrastructure of 100,000+ nodes in over 65 countries? Maybe it takes you! This position will require effective communication of complex technical information through many different types of exciting mediums, such as Remote Assistance, and NetMeeting Web Conferencing. You will be responsible for the monitoring performance and availability of systems, troubleshooting complex high priority server or software issues, and help to design / develop / implement new operating processes of strategic significance which may ultimately have an impact on Microsoft’s revenue! You will be given the opportunity to analyze systems for optimal performance, insurmountable security, and reliable stability.
