College & Career Guidance Services
The Guidance Department at TPCS exists to support students reach their academic, spiritual, physical and social God- given potential. We provide an intentional, structured plan to prepare and equip each student to understand how God has uniquely created them, to discover His plan for their life and to explore how best to fulfill that plan. Here is an overview of our College & Career plan.
GRADE 9 (spring of grade 8 for students enrolled at that time)
Guidance Counselor meeting to review graduation requirements and choose diploma track; parents are welcome to attend
students will complete a Four Year Graduation Plan with their parents and Guidance Counselor, outlining required courses for the diploma track they have chosen
Students post on our online student portal all volunteer, service and extracurricular activities they participate in for use on future college and scholarship applications, essays, etc.
students take the PSAT and can access prep courses for SAT and ACT
students may participate in the Spanish immersion J-Term 11 day trip to Nicaragua to build cultural and practical skills
college and university representatives are scheduled to visit during lunch
GRADE 10
students will review their Four Year Graduation Plan and diploma track
one high school, AP and Dual-Credit course may be taken online during the school day through Sevenstar Academy at TPCS expense to begin building early college credit
students may participate in the Spanish immersion J-Term 11 day trip to Nicaragua to build cultural and practical skills
students will participate in PSAT/NMSQT testing in October for practice for the SAT
students will register with My College QuickStart, a free online college and career planning program for students who take the PSAT/NMSQT after receiving their scores
students will take the Indiana ISTEP+ graduation qualifying exam
college and university representatives visit during lunch in the fall
students may register for and take the SAT or ACT after taking the PSAT in October
students record volunteer, service and extracurricular activities in their student portal Guidance helps students looking to college athletic participation make sure they are meeting NCAA/NAIA guidelines
Students are eligible for Dual-Credit courses taught by our Masters or PhD level faculty in Math & Science to earn early college credit through Indiana University

GRADE 11
students take Introduction to Life Calling, and Dual-Credit course taught by our staff through Indiana Wesleyan U that explores each student’s uniqueness and life calling
students participate in the Life Calling J-Term trip to further explore colleges, or full-time ministry options; travel is to Colorado, Arizona and California for 10 days visiting 10 different universities and ministries
students may take Introduction to Business as a faith based financial literacy course
students will review their Four Year Graduation Plan and diploma track
students may take one or two high school, Dual-Credit or AP courses through Sevenstar at TPCS expense
students may enroll in Hire Tech, a pre-engineering/advanced manufacturing training program, an Indiana program through which TPCS students are partnered with Subaru of Indiana to train and receive multiple manufacturing certifications
students are eligible for nomination to the TPCS chapter of the National Honor Society
students will participate in PSAT /NMSQT testing in October for practice for the SAT and to enter the competition for scholarships from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation
students will regularly utilize their My College QuickStart account to a variety of college prep tools
we provide regular scholarship opportunity information and updates
students will participate in a school sponsored field trip to the National College Fair in October to continue their exploration of college majors, careers and post-secondary education
Students are encouraged to take the SAT and/or ACT exams and register with the NCAA
Students are eligible for Dual-Credit courses taught by our Masters or PhD level faculty in Math & Science to earn early college credit through Indiana University plus Honors and Dual-Credit courses in Eng/History
GRADE 12
Students take a one semester course with our licensed guidance counselor to complete college research and submit university and scholarship applications by early college deadlines, build their resume and hear from various professionals in our TPCS community and practice interview skills
students plan and participate in a unique job shadow/internship experience during the two weeks of J-Term students may take one or two high school, Dual-Credit or AP courses through Sevenstar at TPCS expense
students review their Four Year Graduation Plan and diploma track
students may take up to three high school, Dual-Credit or AP courses through Sevenstar at TPCS expense
students are eligible for nomination to the TPCS chapter of the National Honor Society and inducted at a formal ceremony
students may participate in the Hire Tech pre-engineering/advanced manufacturing partnership with Subaru
Students are eligible for Dual-Credit courses taught by our Masters or PhD level faculty in Math & Science to earn early college credit through Indiana University plus Honors and Dual-Credit courses in Eng/History
graduation announcement, cap & gown are offered through Jostens
students will continue to regularly utilize their My College QuickStart account
students continue to record volunteer, service and extracurricular activities in their online student portal
Guidance directs students and their parents will file the FAFSA (http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/index.htm) federal application for financial aid beginning October of their senior year
We continue to provide information on scholarship opportunities and nominate students for scholarships
Students are encouraged to re-take the SAT and/or ACT to improve scores
A formal Graduation Ceremony is held in early June for graduates, family, friends and community. Each student is introduced and faculty comments of encouragement shared as they cross the stage. Other efforts are made to honor the unique contribution of each student to TPCS and bless them as they move on to the next phase of life. Honored and Keynote speakers along with our Valedictorian and often Salutatorian share words of encouragement and thanks.
