Dear Park School Parents & Guardians:

In partnership with Leonard Woodson, the Special Recreation Department of the Evanston Park District and the Park School Principal/Parent Advisory Team, (PPAT) a start-up program for early morning childcare will be available beginning February 9, 2015 and run through May 29, 2015. Based on last year’s survey we will start by offering a 3 day a week (Mon., Wed., Fri.), program. The early morning child care will be offered from 7:30 AM to the starting of the school day at 9:00 AM. This program was to start in the fall of 2014 but after careful consideration of the medical needs of our Park students, we delayed the start of the program to research the additional cost of providing nursing services. To keep the fee structure similar to the other District 65 early morning child care programs, we will now need a minimum of 12 students registered for the three-day-a-week program. It is important to note: There will be no transportation, as well as, NO fee assistance or scholarships provided for this program. We are still working out arrangements for a breakfast option with District 65 food service and will keep you posted on a possible breakfast menu when it becomes made available.

The total cost for the program for this year will be $303.62 or $37 per week. The deposit will cover approximately half of the total cost with the remainder of the fee due to Evanston Special Recreation by March 13th. If you are interested in registering for Park School Early Morning Childcare, a deposit of $150 must accompany your registration form. The form and deposit are due to the Special Recreation Department of the City of Evanston by Feb 2, 2015. You may send the registration fee and form to Park School and we will pass them along to the Special Recreation Department. A calendar will follow with the dates the program will be in session. Your deposit check will be refunded if the minimum number of 12 students is not reached by February 4, 2015.

This is our first attempt to provide an early morning option for our Park Students. If the program runs we will be monitoring the success of this pilot through the PPAT and the Special Recreation Department of Evanston. Our hope is to at least sustain the three days and eventually increase the amount of days we can offer early morning care.

Please do not hesitate to contact me or Leonard with any further questions you might have.

Sincerely,
