Dear Prospective THS Band Parent,
We are very excited about the possibility of your child joining the “Pride of Troup County” THS Marching Band. We know you and your child have many questions and concerns, and hopefully, we can address some of them in this letter.
The marching band performs at every football game, both home and away. The band usually performs in the LaGrange Christmas, West Point Christmas and MLK Parades. We also perform at several other local venues throughout the year.
Because the majority of support for our band program comes from our band booster organization, our fund-raising projects are usually on-going. Our largest fund raiser is the THS football program, with ad sales starting in May. Band Boosters is solely responsible for the sale of ads, printing the program, and then selling the program at football games. One way in which you and your child can participate is through the sale of game sponsors. There are four levels of sponsorship: “Performer” is $10.00, “Section Leader” is $15.00, “Drum Major” is $25.00, and “Director’s Circle” is $50.00. Each sponsor’s name and level will be listed in the program. All sponsorships that your child sells can be credited toward their band fee.
What is the cost to be in the marching band? All new members are required to purchase shoes, a band t- shirt, gloves, poncho, socks, shorts, band bag and pay a band fee of $115.00. The band fee helps cover band camp instructors, props, music, and other operating costs of the band. Each member is also required to pay for the school’s student insurance. This year the insurance is $33.00. The band fee and completed info sheet are due by May 24th. The receipt of the band fee will secure a spot for your child in the half time show. All other band payments are due no later than July 10th. Please make all checks payable to THS Band. Checks for payment of insurance should be made payable to THS Band. Payments can be mailed to THS Band Boosters, PO Box 3613, LaGrange, GA 30241.
Dates for band camp are July 13th-17th & July 20th -24th. More information concerning band camp will be sent to you by the band director or posted on our web site www.trouphighband.com
We know this is a lot of information and that you probably have more questions. Please feel free to contact any band booster member or Mr. Hurd at any time. We encourage you to join band boosters and attend our meetings, the 1st Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm ET in the THS band room. We are very excited about our upcoming year and look forward to getting to know you and your child!
