C. MAJOR COMMISSIONING: -

2 Consumer Sub Sherul s/s: 4 way RMU, CT/PT unit Stations IL & FS: 3 way RMU, 1500KVA Transformer-3; Recommissioning of old 415 V panel -2. Commissioning Godrej WNS: Recommissioning of Transformer-1 which was kept out for two years and CT/PT unit. B G House: RMU replacement (as old RMU SF6 pressure became zero). Empire S/S: 3 Panel Board recommissioned (removed from spring mills). Wicel: Additional Feeder Pillar. Raheja Plaza: Replacement of 1250KVA Transformer by 2 MVA transformer. Accenture: CT/PT unit. American Counsulate: 3 way RMU, CT/PT unit. Equipment Borivli: Commissioning in progress for 110 kV/22 kV, 75 MVA Commissioning. Transformer 7 (repaired trf from Malad) Trombay-B: a) Re-commissioning of Constr. Supply transformer for CWP line, Unit # 8. b) LP HTR drip pump motor # 6 tested after repairs/overhaul. Also I/P & O/P Trafos of VF Drive for the motor were tested. Khopoli: a) Walwhan tap-off 22kVsupply to MSEB-Lonavala city for – 22 kV Voltas bkr, 22 kV CT/PT commissioning in progress. 4 Protection Parel: New Siemens make Distance relay on 110kV Parel- Carnac System / relays line Commissioning. Saki: 22 kV Marol feeder Fault sensing relay.
Bhivpuri: Units-9, 10 & 11- Excitation system (Logics for Normal power supply to SIMOREG modified to get main supply is from DC with Inverter & MCB-415V supply as standby, so as to avoid tripping of Unit during loss of 415V MCB supply. 5 Metering Down loading of Meter Data from 162 Trivector Meters for billing activities as per new MERC tariff order. Fresh trainee officers were trained for this job. 7 nos Billing meters at Credance were replaced on account of high energy audit. Total 12 nos. check meters were tested at various locations. Investigation of meters installed on old generators units at Bhivpuri. MSEB Panvel meter was replaced with ABT compatible meter. PML meters were commissioned at various locations for DAS. New 22kV point of supply was established for MSEB at Lonawala. This is interim arrangement for facilitating MSEB to shift their Transmission lines. Elster Make Alpha Meter is commissioned at this point. Meter re-commissioning was carried out at Empire Industries after relocation of Sub station.
D. MAJOR OCCURRENCES & INVESTIGATION: -
DIVISION OCCURRENCES / INVESTIGATION Consumer s/s Samarth Nagar-2- Transformer –1: On 20.10.2006, Transformer was opened, found that there was a flash over between jumpers of R & B phases. Mira Road S/S – On 01.08.2006, 11 kV Incomer tripping for the fault on outgoing feeders - Relay setting on 11 kV Incomer as well as outgoing feeder not correctly adopted. Bhivpuri On 17.10.06, 110kV Transfer breaker tripped for monkey electrocution on Transfer bus-A ph. At the same time, Unit # 9 tripped on GT L/O relay operated by action of 110kV side Directional E/F relay due to heavy voltage dip. The setting of Directional E/F relays for all the Units- 9, 10 & 11 have been revised so as to reduce its sensitivity. Dharavi On 01.10.2006, DT-11 HT Bkr tripped without any relay action – Tracking observed across the contacts inside the Control switch on Back-up panel. On 29.10.2006, 33KV B.S.Bkr-1-2 tripped on A-ph POL without any fluctuation or fault current - A-ph POL –ICM21 P relay pickup was found to have reduced as restraining spring had come out from one side. This was replaced by a spare relay. Trombay-B On 19.10.2006, Tripping of ESPT # 5B (L/O optd. w/o any relay target) - Indicating lamp (LED type) used for L/O coil supervision found defective On 21.10.06, on Trombay Unit-5 Generator Protection Panel, the supervision of Left Group was found to have lost. Investigation revealed failure of DC/DC converter. The supply was changed over to the standby converter. Trombay-A On 29.10.2006, Unit # 4 tripped on Static Excitation system problem. The problem got reset after switch on/off DC supply. This is being taken up with ABB.
E. FAULTS / ABNORMALITIES DETECTED DURING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING:-
Total No of faults detected. : - 04 nos. Significant Defects Detected::- Consumer s/s: a) American Counsulate: RMU - SF6 pressure found low. Being attended. Parel: a) PM2 LBBU protection – In/Out switch was non functional - Scheme modified and checked ok. Dharavi: a) ICT-7 HT side Dir. E/F relay type CDD43 found not operating - The shedding coil of this relay may have open-circuited. The relay replaced by CDD41. Bhira: a) ICT # 2 RXIB relay for BU E/F found defective. I: - NDB PARAMETERS
New Different Better Metering: 1. Trainee Assistance given to M/s Dharavi: Knowledge sharing Officers- Engineers were Hyundai for H.V. testing of session at TRD –conducted by given hands- on training to their 245 KV GIS at HMI , EQAG. down load Meter Load Chennai ( by M/s D M Survey data from Revenue Deshpand & P P Kachhawah), Meters. This was necessary using TPC`s Hipot Test Set. to facilitate billing as per new tariff order issued by MERC. 2. New 22kV point of supply was established for MSEB at Lonavala. J. MAN POWER DEVELOPMENT / ADMINISTRATION:-
D M Deshpande: a) Attended one Day Tutorial Course Phase shifting Transformers at CBIP , Delhi. b) Presentation on ‘LBBU Occurrence’ during the knowledge sharing session for TRD. D M Deshpande & P P Kachhawah: Assistance to M/s Hyundai for HV Testing of 245 kV GIS at Huyndai Motors, Chennai. P B Tupe: Two sessions on 5S Training were conducted for Union Employees at Trombay.
Knowledge sharing session was conducted for TRD at Dharavi by EQAG. (A Mukherji, P K Jain, G T Jawale, A V Potdar) S R Nayak & V A Sankpal: Attended Two days training on BPSU excitation system by Siemens.

C: –MAJOR FAILURES, & INVESTIGATION
A total of 22 Calls were attended in October 2006. NELCO Engineers were associated for attending to 14 calls with TPC Engineers. Four expert mandays were also utilised to attend to Dharavi problem of Hard disk failure.
Dharavi Database (TDS) Corruption 18-Oct-06 Dharavi SCADA System was down due to TDS Database corruption. The system restored by loading backup in salvaged hard disks. Trombay Both the DAC Nodes failed Since 24- Both the DAC nodes have failed. No Station ‘A’ Sep-06 Spares are available. Defective DAC Nodes have been sent for repairs Bhira & Backups of Westinghouse Feasibility of using DDS2 tape drive for LDC Master cannot be taken as the taking backup is being explored. tape cartridges are obsolete and not available Dharavi & During the Condition Based October 06 Divisions have been advised to improve the Parel Maintenance activity A/C systems and maintain the temperature insufficient cooling was below 25*C where SCADA systems are observed in Control Rooms installed.

Ms B S Pisolkar and Mr Amok Agarwala attended a 3 day programme on Managerial Development, from 5th to 7th October 2006 at Backbay. B. MAJOR COMMISSIONING : -
Date Division Description 1. New Telephone exchanges for the system October Installed IP telephone instrument at control room of all Hydros, Carnac, Parel, Dharavi, 2006 Trombay and LD. These extensions are the extensions of Trombay B. Hence in the event of network failure, it would be possible to call among the divisions. Installation of IP telephone for the other control room is in progress.
C. MAJOR OCCURRENCES & INVESTIGATION : -
Date Division / Station OCCURRENCES / INVESTIGATION Bhira 2 Nos. of eZ32 card of IP exchange at Bhira had gone defective. The field cables of these cards had picked the lightning surge resulting in the damage of the voice ports. The cards were been replaced by spare module, and the defective cards are been sent to ABS Bangalore for repairs. 26th Oct 06 Ambernath Ambernath SMS data was not working. N3BE module at Salsette was resetted.
