Before you open a course at the start of the term, the following items should be ready. Review each item below, marking the appropriate yes/no option. Click the Help link in the help column to be taken to a tutorial or guide. Ye No Get Course Functionality s Help CONTENT: I have a Getting Started or Orientation module in my course, it lets learners know what to expect and includes my syllabus, contact information, office hours, student expectations, communication (netiquette) expectations, and an introductory discussion topic for students to introduce themselves. Content module date and time restrictions are set up for the current term. If the content needs Help to be hidden from student view – it is set as draft. Content pages with text use the proper H1, H2, and H3 font formats to indicate headings and Help subheadings. Images use ALT text. URL Links in my course are pointing to the desired website and are set up to open in a new Help window. All items in the content have proper copyright attribution. Sources for materials used in the Help course are clearly identified and cited. Library eReserve Articles are linked properly in the content area. Help Videos are linked or embedded from YouTube – include closed captions. Help DROPBOX & GRADEBOOK: Dropboxes are available for students to submit written homework. Dropboxes have proper Help submission types, point values, due dates and end dates. Dropboxes include assignment instructions, and an attached assignment rubric, or a D2L rubric to clearly outline how student work will be evaluated. I have updated Dropbox due dates, and end dates to the current term. Help I have a Gradebook setup, with grade items for course assessments. The points or weighted Help system matches the grading and grades area of my syllabus. I have reviewed the Gradebook association column on the manage grades page to ensure Help Discussions, Dropboxes and Quizzes are associated to the Gradebook. (Note that some Discussions may not be associated to the Gradebook depending on your course set up). QUIZZES: (if applicable) Quizzes are set up with desired restrictions, status, end dates, and time limits. Help Self Grading Quizzes are set up to allow automatic export to grades. Allow attempt to be set as Help graded immediately upon completion is selected if students should see their score as soon as they submit their attempt. Quiz questions include feedback to users – I have set up an additional submission view for Help students to show them the questions they answered incorrectly so they can view the feedback. DISCUSSIONS: Discussions are set up are with the desired restrictions, and start and end dates. Help Discussion Topics are set up to use the Must Post First when appropriate. Help I have a Questions Discussion Topic for students to post questions to. I have an Introductory discussion topic for students to post introductions to.

Help I can access the Classlist tool, view student enrollment in my course, and email the class or a Help student using the classlist tool. I can subscribe to discussions and receive notifications when a student has posted to a Help discussion (Recommended for Questions Discussion Topic). I can post to discussions and reply to individual student discussion posts and discussion threads. Help I can receive email from students, and reply to them using the D2L email tool. Help I can enter grades and feedback for students in the Gradebook. Help I can download student dropbox submittions, grade them, and provide grades and feedback to Help students via the dropbox tool. This website includes orientations, short videos and PDF guides for just about any task you need to complete in D2L.
