Shared Experience return to Richmond Theatre after their hugely successful production of A Caucasian Chalk Circle 2009. The company have been instrumental in pioneering a distinctive performance style that has captivated audiences the world over, fusing stunning visual imagery with a powerful physical style.

The Brontë sisters and their work is ever popular but not much is widely known about the sisters. This production provides an insight in to the lives of one of the country’s major literary families – the Brontës. It is look at the relationship of between the sisters and their brother and the relationship they developed with their characters. It is a biographic look at the Brontës – an extraordinary story that few know.

Polly Teale is Joint Artistic Director of Shared Experience. Her productions for the company include: The Glass Menagerie, Mine (writer/director), Speechless (co writer/director; Fringe First Award), Ten Tiny Toes, Kindertransport, Jane Eyre (director/adapter, touring and West End), Brontë, After Mrs Rochester (writer/director, touring and West End; Evening Standard Award for Best Director, Time Out Award for Best West End Production), Madame Bovary, The Clearing, A Doll’s House, The House of Bernarda Alba, Desire Under the Elms; and as co-Director with Nancy Meckler: War and Peace (co-production with the National Theatre) and Mill on the Floss.

Nancy Meckler is Joint Artistic Director of Shared Experience. Her productions for the company include Anna Karenina, A Passage to India, Heartbreak House, True West, The Birthday Party, The Bacchae, Gone to Earth, Mother Courage and Caucasian Chalk Circle; and as co-Director with Polly Teale: War and Peace and Mill on the Floss. Nancy was the first woman to direct at the National Theatre, was an Associate Director for Hampstead Theatre and at Leicester Haymarket, and has worked with Royal Court, Young Vic, Women’s Playhouse Trust, Almeida Theatre and regularly with the RSC. Film credits include Sister My Sister and Alive and Kicking (Audience Award for Best Film, London Film Festival).
