SKI TOW OPERATOR / JOB DESCRIPTION
Department: Ski Hill Operations Employment Dates: Typically Early December – Early March (depending on length of season) Wages: $11.00 - $13.00/hr. DOE Reports To: Ski Hill Operations Supervisor Status: Part or Full-time, Seasonal
Description Summary This is a working hands-on position that is very guest service and risk management oriented. This position is responsible for the safe operation of the Ski Hill Rope Tow and providing a safe and fun guest experience. This position checks, prepares and documents all Ski Tow functions in accordance with the ANSI B-77.1 Code, all WA State lift inspection requirements and the LWSC Ski Hill Rope Tow Operations Manual. This position performs and is responsible for all functions regarding the safe operation of Ski Hill Rope Tows.
Essential Functions Provide a safe, controlled and friendly guest and employee experience Understand varying slope conditions and take appropriate action to provide a safe environment Stop the Ski Tow if unsafe conditions appear and cannot be mitigated Immediately contact the Ski Hill Supervisor if unsafe conditions appear Proactively implement risk management best practices prior to opening and during operations Inspect, monitor, repair and document all Rope Tow functions Perform and document all Pre-Operation Checks prior to opening the tow for daily operation Ensure that all required and operations signs are posted daily including CLOSED at the end-of-day shift Ensure and maintain all safety and fencing/maze structures Remove appropriate fencing /maze structures at closing of operations to allow for grooming access and function Operate all ski lifts in compliance with the LWSC Ski Hill Rope Tow Operations Manual, ANSI B-77.1 code and WA State lift inspection reports Instruct and assist guests with safe loading and un-loading functions Contact Ski Patrol in the event of an injury incident. Stop rope tow activities and assist Patrol as needed. Stop the Rope Tow activities until the scene is cleared before resuming operations Document and maintain records of all incidents both guests and employees that are related to the Rope Tow operation Ensure that no non-approved sledding devices are used at Ski Hill Check each guest’s daily ticket or pass prior to them boarding the Tow Adhere to MSDS requirements applicable to the department Communicate regularly with the Ski Hill Operations Supervisor regarding Rope Tow performance, maintenance or any safety issues. Stay in radio contact at all times during shift Sign and turn-in weekly timecard to the Ski Hill Operations Supervisor

Experience / Requirements Enjoys being outside in an outdoor winter environment Strong risk management understanding and skills Basic mechanical knowledge and skills Able to use good judgment and make quick sound decisions to prevent accidents or improve safety Superior guest service skills including professional appearance and demeanor Command of the English language both written and verbal High School Graduate/GED minimum, College preferred Reliable all-weather transportation
Physical Requirements Stand and / or sit for extended periods, reach, walk, bend, stoop and lift Shovel, rake and clear snow Ascend and descend snow slopes, stairs and navigate uneven and or slippery terrain Lift up to 80 lbs. Tolerate hot/cold temperatures at times above 95 Degrees F or below 0 Degrees F
Working Conditions Indoor / Outdoor including extreme temperatures and snow / ice in the winter months Must be able to function effectively with minimum supervision Noisy and fast-paced environment with adults, children and groups Lots of guest interaction
Attendance Show-up for work in a timely manner appropriately dressed for daily operations according to the operating schedule Business operation schedules and levels are affected by the weather, requiring the ability for this position to maintain flexibility in the work schedule This position’s work schedule will also include weekends, holidays, evenings and extra hours
