3 Communal discernment -- Jim  Jim handed out Wende’s draft of the agenda for the Town Hall meeting this Sunday evening which she condensed from the 3 discernment meetings and the Leadership Board retreat.  The objective for the Town Hall meeting is to share the outcomes of the 3 meetings in more depth and the current thinking of the Leadership Board as a result of those meetings, and then to get additional feedback from those in attendance. We are still in an information-gathering stage. 4 Meeting with the Preschool -- Nate  Nate was very impressed at his meeting with the Preschool officials. He feels that the Preschool fits very well into our Church’s mission. It is more than a business – it is a mission to our community. 5 Update on Nate’s 7 short term goals -- Nate  Discipling communities – Glenn has communicated with the small group leaders and started several new ones. The Board would like to him to develop an integrated discipling plan for our church body, so it becomes a part of who we are.  Youth pastor (Cameron) is hired and hit the ground running. We have an ATS intern, Nick Robison, who will fill in for Cameron when his baby is born.  Facilities discernment – in process; next step is Town Hall meeting.  Revision in Worship Team approach in 2nd service – done  Updated children’s ministry policies and facilities – Another shift in rooms for children was made before the fall session began.  New branding – in process  Communication policy – on hold 6 Missional Giving Process -- Gordon  The new name is: Missional Partners Team.  No written policies yet, but Gordon will begin a draft. Once the Board Gordon Oct. mtg. approves the policies that will guide this team, the Team will carry out their duties independently. Once policies are in place, working with them through one full cycle will help test and refine the policies.

(Dick Winfield and Karen Weidenhamer will be asked.) Most of those named have a vested interest in a particular mission, and Gordon said it would be good to have several “at large” people from the congregation to balance things out.  The Team will begin talking about the Advent Offering next week. 7 Request from Radial Church – Jim/Gordon/Matt  Radial Church is purchasing decrepit properties in downtown Canton and renovating them for families to live in. They have another property they are looking at and asked for monetary help to acquire it. Matt said money is available from the Richcreek Fund. Steve moved and Joel seconded that we release $5,000 upon the purchase of the property by Radial Church. This is a separate transaction from any monies that might be allotted to them from the Advent Offering. Motion approved. 8 Nominating Committee update -- Steve  The Committee is set. The lay members are Laura Kollar and Stephanie Hunn. They will begin to go through the list of nominations for Leadership Board and Deacon Ministry. 9 Children’s Ministry update -- Nate  Nate announced his decision that there would be no Christmas program this year.  He noted that he will be speaking to Sherry tomorrow (Wednesday) about transitions in the Children’s Ministry area. 10 Operations Manager update - Nate  There are 5 internal candidates for the position. Tentative time table is to interview and deliberate in October; offer the job in November; and have the person begin in December or January. 11 Reports  No additional Executive Team, Finance Team, or Ministry Team reports, other than what was in the packet.  Senior Pastor notes -- Nate had a great time in the Christian Heirs class. There are 9 new babies to participate in the next baby dedication service (this note is totally unrelated to the note about Christian Heirs!). Nate will be preaching at the Garber church on Oct. 23 since Jason will be preaching at Park Street. The pastors from 5 Stones, Garber, Albion, and Park Street are meeting periodically to support and pray for each other. 12 Examination for licensure for Dolly Dong -- Nate  Nate moved that the Board affirm Dolly Dong’s call to licensure in the Brethren Church; Matt seconded. Motion was approved, and the paperwork was signed. 13 Volunteer Appreciation dinner -- Nate  The Executive Team approved $5,000 for the event. Charcoal Mafia will be catering the dinner in the gym. The staff is working on the details for the event.
