November 20, 2009 Skeena Wild Update

Hi Everyone, We’ve just been informed that Chinese and Korean oil companies are on the verge of signing a deal with Enbridge that could make super tankers on BC's north coast a reality.

There is only one way to stop them: illustrate for them the full force of our opposition and let them know that there is no way we'll allow our fragile coast to be threatened by a catastrophic oil spill.

This could be one of the most important actions you take on this campaign. Please take 20 minutes to do these suggested actions.

1. Write the Chinese Consulate and Korean National Oil Corporation and let them know that you are one of the many people willing to fight for our coast. http://www.dogwoodinitiative.org/notankers/actions/letters-to-stop- gateway/

Be bold, be blunt, be forceful. It's time to let Asian oil giants know the true strength of the majority of British Columbians willing stand up to protect our coast.

The Chinese in particular have backed away from projects with significant public and/or First Nations opposition. Without support from Asian oil companies it's unlikely that Enbridge's $4 billion tanker and pipeline project will get built.

2. Go to the news story http://www.theglobeandmail.com/globe- investor/oil-sands-pipeline-to-west-coast-gains- backing/article1370402/ And post a comment

3. Send a letter to the editor of the Globe: [email protected]

4. Spread this link: http://www.dogwoodinitiative.org/notankers/actions/letters-to-stop-gateway FAR AND WIDE

It goes to a letter-action page where people can write their own short letter, which will be sent to several of the companies that might be backing Gateway We will then print off all of the letters written and fax them to the companies we don’t have adequate email addresses for.

5. Please forward this on to five or more friends and let them know that this is one of our best chances to keep our coast supertanker free.

I cannot understate the importance of demonstrating strength of numbers at this critical point. Enbridge ‘expects’ firm commitments by the time they file their application. They don’t yet have them; we have a window where we can maybe buy some time.
