Minutes for 1982

The Scott Reunion Association met August 1, 1982 at Brownwood, Texas. The meeting was called to order by B.W. Scott. The opening prayer was given by Alice Clary. B.W. appointed J.D. Scott to serve as parliamentarian and Bruce Scott serve as Sgt. At Arms. Alice Clary suggested that when the additions to the family are read into the minutes that the original member of the Scott family be named. The minutes were read and approved. The treasurer’s report was given and accepted. There was no old business. Next was a discussion of a possible change of a meeting place for the next year. There was discussion of possibility of renting the Coliseum and having the main meal catered. Doss made a statement about suitable places to hold reunions are very hard to find.

After some discussion of buying land and building a place for ourselves, a motion was made and seconded that a study of this idea be made. Vote was 20 for and 20 against, therefore the idea was tabled. It was decided that since we as a family love each other very much and have a lot of fun in spite of the conditions, that we would continue to meet at the reunion hall.

Newtie said it was time to relieve Barbara of her duties. B.W. called for nominations for new vice chairman. Brown moved that Ira Scott be elected by acclamation. Bettie Ruth Brannen seconded motion and it carried.

Ira nominated Julie Atkins for secretary. J.D. made a motion to elect Julie by acclamation. Barbara seconded and the motion carried.

Terry agreed to keep serving as treasurer.

B.W. stated that it was an honor to served as chairman and he thanked the elders for their leadership examples.

After a standing applause for Barbara and applause for all the officers, the benediction was given and lunch was served.
