Illinois State University, Intercollegiate Athletics Graduate Assistant – Strength & Conditioning

Illinois State University, a NCAA Division I institution, member of the Missouri Valley Conference invites applications for the position of Graduate Assistant for Strength & Conditioning within the Department of Athletics. This pre-professional, 12-month position includes a tuition waiver and a stipend of $1,200 per month. The successful applicant must meet the admission requirements for Illinois State's Graduate School and be prepared to begin working around July 2015. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: assist the Strength & Conditioning staff in developing and administering all phases of speed, strength, and conditioning programs to 19 varsity sports; develop training programs for select varsity sports as assigned by the Head Strength Coach; perform guided research and study in all aspects of the profession; and other duties as assigned.

As a part of your responsibilities, you will follow the regulations and guidelines of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Missouri Valley Conference or the Missouri Valley Football conference, the Athletics Department and Illinois State University. Failure to do so may result in suspension without pay or termination of employment. In addition, the University follows the stipulation of the NCAA that violation of NCAA regulations shall be subject to disciplinary or corrective action as set forth in the provisions of the NCAA enforcement procedure, including suspension without pay or termination of employment for significant or repetitive violations. Qualifications: Required qualifications include: Bachelor’s Degree; eligibility for appointment per the requirements in the Graduate Assistant Handbook; graduate student at Illinois State University majoring in Bio- mechanics, Exercise Physiology, or Psychology of Sport & Physical Activity; strong work ethic; and a desire to excel in the field of strength & conditioning. Preferred qualifications include: First Aid, CPR, and AED certified; undergraduate degree in any of the following: Movement Sciences, Physical Sciences, Exercise Science, Physical Education, or Bio-mechanics.
