TEXT: Pathophysiology, The Biologic Basis for Disease in Adults and Children, 5th edition; McCance and Huether, eds.

Grading: All exams will be multiple choice and True/False. Bring a #2 pencil to the exams.

3 lecture exams @ 100 points 300 5 unannounced quizzes @ 20 points 100 Final Exam 100

TOTAL POINTS 500

The WCU standards for grading will be followed. You must score 350 of 500 possible points (70%) to receive a C- in the course.

There is no such thing as extra credit. If you miss an exam for a valid reason, you must provide proof of that within 1 week of the exam, and a make up exam will be arranged. There are no make up quizzes. Missing a quiz for any reason results in a 0 for that quiz. At least 6 quizzes will be given over the course of the semester, so that you can drop the lowest quiz grade. Any instances of academic dishonesty will result in an "F" for the course, and will be reported to your Department Chair.

There will be an optional comprehensive final exam, which you may sign up to take. If you receive at least a 70% on this comprehensive final, I will use that grade to replace the lowest of the 4 regular exams or your total quiz score, whichever is lowest. If you elect to take this exam and score below 70%, no substitution will occur.

Students who have a documented learning disability must provide me with their letter stating what accommodations are needed, no later than the end of the second week of the semester. I will make every effort to accommodate your needs, but accommodations are not retroactive.

Your textbook publisher has a web site that students can log onto for assistance, www.mosby.com. It should send you to the Elsevier page. Select Nursing, select Pathophysiology, then select your textbook. Follow their instructions from there. In addition, an outline of the course notes will be posted on Blackboard. WEEK TOPIC
