Directions: Go to www.msdecker.com and click on the site that says Ransom of Mercy Carter Web Activity. You will be using that website to answer the questions below.
1. Go to the first icon on the left that says “Story Menu” and click on that. Read the information and then click on the icon that says “Life ways”.
A. How many different cultures interacted in the Deerfield community? (Name them)
B. What present day state is Deerfield located?
2. Next, click the backspace button and you will be back on the main page for “Story Menu”. Next, click on the 3rd icon that says “Founding New Communities” and click on “Founding of Deerfield”.
A. What year was Deerfield founded?
B. When was the permanent settlement founded? Why did this take so long from when Deerfield was originally settled?
3. Go to the top of the page and click on “Story Menu”. Next click on “Attack on Deerfield” and read the over view to the right and look at the picture to the left. Answer the following questions.
A. What was the date of the attack on Deerfield? B. What country allied themselves with the Native American group that attacked Deerfield?
C. What happened to the captives of Deerfield that were unable to make the journey with the Native Americas?
D. As you have read there were conflicts that led up to this raid on Deerfield. It was not just a happenstance event. Under the section that says “Allied Forces” summarize the paragraph of underlying conflict and turmoil that was going on.
E. Move your cursor over the picture and choose 3 of the things to describe in the space below.
