PROMPTS FOR EXPOSITORY WRITING: THIS IS A CLASS SET DO NOT WRITE ON THIS DOCUMENT PLEASE
DIRECTIONS: Select ten (10) prompts below and write a three or four point thesis statement for each. Then write the topic sentence for each of your body paragraphs. Make sure your thesis statement answers the prompt; the three to four (3-4) topic sentences support your thesis statement; the transitional words or phrases are appropriate for the body paragraphs. On your own paper respond each of your ten (10) prompts in the format given below.
EXAMPLE (USE THIS FORM FOR EACH PROMPT YOU SELECT) Transitional words and phrases are italicized for emphasis in the example below.
PROMPT - What are the qualities of a successful leader? THESIS STATEMENT – The leadership qualities of an effective and successful high school, women’s athletic coach are: being an expert in the game, knowing and complying with all the rules of the game, being able to motivate female high school athletes, and teaching ways for female athletes to improve their natural skills and abilities.
BODY PARAGRAPH 1 – TOPIC SENTENCE: Above all, great high school coaches demonstrate superior leadership skills and achieve success when they know all the nuances of the women’s sport they are leading and mentoring.
BODY PARAGRAPH 2 – TOPIC SENTENCE: Likewise, women’s athletic coaches must understand and comply with all the rules of the game, in order to model excellence in leadership to their athletes.
BODY PARAGRAPH 3 – TOPIC SENTENCE: Ultimately, the most successful coaches for women’s athletic teams employ effective techniques and strategies to keep their high school athletes motivated to do their personal best at all times.
BODY PARAGRAPH 4 – TOPIC SENTENCE: At the same time, coaches who lead their teams to success, also support their high school, female athletes by developing and improving their natural athletic skills and abilities.
