Pre-/Post-Grand Opening Celebration Administrative Aide and Pre-/Post-Grand Opening Celebration Site Set-Up/Breakdown availability: September 13 – 20, September 27 – October 3: (Please list specific days and times. We will contact you if you are needed.)

NATIVE NATIONS PROCESSION

The Procession Volunteer shift runs from 5:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., on Tuesday, September 21, 2004 only, and volunteers may be assigned at either the D.C. Armory at 2001 East Capitol Street, S.E., or the National Mall, between 14th Street, N.W., and the Smithsonian Castle.

Please pick three procession shift work preferences, and feel free to rank your choices: 1 (most preferred) to 3 (least preferred). Assignments are made on a first-come first-served basis. Preference Dressing Room Aide- Monitors dressing rooms, keeping areas clean. Directs participants to property management areas. (Needed at D.C. Armory and National Mall.) General Aide- Provides general assistance; fills in positions as needed. Assists with accessibility and seating. Hospitality Aide- Sets up and breaks down the Procession Hospitality area. Prepares snacks and runs errands. (Needed at D.C. Armory and National Mall.) Parking Lot Attendant- Directs guests traveling in cars to parking sites. Directs participants to information tables. Assists participants with special needs. (Needed at D.C. Armory.) Performance Aide- Assists staff and musicians with set-up, break-down, hospitality, and crowd management at one of the four musical component Procession stops. (Needed at National Mall.) Procession Information Booth Aide- Greets and welcomes participants. Assists with disseminating staging information to pre-registered and walk-on participants. Answers questions about registration, the Procession, the Museum, the Festival, and the Washington, D.C., area. (Needed at D.C. Armory and National Mall.) Shuttle Bus Aide- Welcomes passengers as they board the buses. Makes sure passengers have their personal belongings. Announces information on the bus ride. Answers participant questions. Directs passengers to the staging area. (Needed at D.C. Armory and National Mall.) Staging Area Attendant- Greets and welcomes participants. Directs participants to their assigned staging area. Assists with the starting of the Procession. (Needed at National Mall.) FIRST AMERICANS FESTIVAL

FIRST AMERICANS FESTIVAL WORK POSITION DESCRIPTIONS Dance Circle Venue Aide: Assists with performer hospitality, prepping area for performances, and close down. Documentation Aide (logger): Assists with and operates audio, video, or photographic equipment during performances; maintains accurate records of materials presented. Dream Catcher Stage Venue Aide: Assists with performer hospitality, keeping stage area clean and orderly, and welcoming visitors. Evening Concert Aide: Ushers guests and/or assists stage manager and participants and keeps the Green Room stocked and clean. Four Directions Stage Venue Aide: Assists with performer hospitality, keeping stage area clean and orderly, and welcoming visitors. Gathering Place Venue Aide: Assists with performer hospitality, keeping area clean and orderly, and welcoming visitors. General Aide: Provides general assistance; fills in positions as needed. Harvest Stage Venue Aide: Assists with performer hospitality, keeping stage area clean and orderly, and welcoming visitors. Hospitality Aide: Sets up and breaks down Festival Participant Hospitality area; prepares food, runs errands. Must arrive at 8 a.m. to assist with set-up. Hotel Office Aide: Assists participant staff with a wide range of clerical work. Information Booth Aide: Answers questions about the Festival, Grand Opening events, the National Museum of the American Indian, and the Washington, D.C., area; proactively hands out programs and water. Instrumental Arts Venue Aide: Assists artisans in set-up and breakdown; watches area during artisan breaks. Marketplace Aide: Stocks sales tent with craft items; assists in selling items. Opening Ceremony Aide: Assists in the set-up for the opening ceremony; ushers guests and/or monitors the Green Room. Potomac Stage Venue Aide: Assists with performer hospitality, keeping stage area clean and orderly, and welcoming visitors. Regalia Arts Venue Aide: Assists artisans in set up and breakdown; watches area during artisan breaks. Shuttle Bus Driver: Assists Transportation Coordinator by being available to make trips between the National Mall and the Key Bridge Marriott. A valid driver’s license is necessary. Visitor Counter: Records the number of people attending the Festival. Visitor Surveyor: Administers surveys to randomly selected visitors at various locations throughout the Festival site. Volunteer Administration Aide: Assists in setting up the Volunteer tent, checking in volunteers, and distributing name badges; answers phone and general festival questions from volunteers and the public.
