Cotuit Center for the Arts Announces “The Art of Making Art – Putting it Together”, The 2017 Season
Taking a cue from a lyric of Stephen Sondheim’s beloved musical Sunday in the Park with George, Cotuit Center for the Arts is proud to announce a season of programming with a focus on integrating all art forms: visual, performing, and literary; in our theater, music, exhibition, education, and collaboration offerings. Following another year of tremendous growth at Cotuit Center for the Arts, the 2017 season offers something for everyone. The Center will present five mainstage theatrical productions, including Sunday in the Park with George, featuring Anthony Teixeira in the title role and Martha Paquin as Dot; Nunsense; One Man, Two Guvnors; and Annie. Theater aficionados will also appreciate a weekend of Shakespeare; The ABC’s of NYC II, an original musical production by Holly Erin McCarthy; and celebrity appearances in the Broadway@ series produced by Mark Cortale. Cotuit’s recently renovated Black Box theater space will feature 11 exciting and often provocative full productions, including Rabbit Hole; Lines in the Sand, an original play by Jim Dalglish; [title of show]; The Collector; Grounded; Elegies for Angels, Punks, and Raging Queens; Christmas Shorts; and two cabaret productions by Stephanie Miele and Hannah Carrita. The Center will present a slew of concerts and special events, including perennial favorites such as the annual Poetry and Chili Fest, Art and Souls Masquerade Ball, Entertainment Tonight, Kentucky Derby Gala, Provincetown Jazz Festival, Brazilian Cultural Festival, Cape Cod Chamber Music Festival, Brazen Belles Burlesque, Ukulele Celebration, Cape Cod Can, the FACB, and more. And in its first collaboration with the Cape Symphony, they will present Every Good Boy Deserves Favour, a play with music by Andre Previn and Tom Stoppard, in two performances at the Barnstable Performing Arts Center. In addition, the Center will feature magicians, comedians, staged readings, and a very special one-night-only performance by Liberace and Peggy Lee!

The Center will also present Piece by Piece 3, a large scale collaborative art exhibition that has garnered tremendous acclaim in its previous two incarnations.
The Center’s education and outreach programs will continue to expand, with dozens of classes and workshops in various areas of arts education designed for students of all ages and abilities. Specific classes for the first several months of the year are published on our website. Classes, events and workshops will be designed with thematic ties to works being programmed on our stages throughout the year.
