TOURNAMENT CONDITIONS AND LIST OF PLAYERS CURRENTLY QUALIFIED TO PLAY IN THE 22 GOAL IN 2015 AS AT THE MID SEASON HANDICAP MEETING 2014

Tournament Conditions for the 22 Goal in 2015. These are due to remain as for 2014.

a) All players must hold an HPA handicap of 0 goals or above. b) Teams are restricted to two OSPs and any OSP must be 4 goals or above. c) Any player below 6 goals unless a patron or a Home Grown Player (see HGP), regardless of nationality, must have been listed as a member of Guards, Cowdray, Cirencester, RCBPC or Beaufort by the Mid-Season Handicap (see list below) meeting and their handicap must be out of brackets.

Note re list:  Players 6 Goals and Above. Players of 6 goals and above have no restrictions on them as individuals for the 22 goal and are therefore not included in the list. They can belong to any club and can be in brackets. If they do not hold an HPA handicap at the end of the 2014 season because they have not played here, or are Not Rated (NR), they will have to submit a CV form as usual in order that they can be given a handicap for 2015.  Patrons and HGP’s. Patrons and HGP’s are included on the list but not identified individually. Remember this list is not exhaustive for patrons and HGP’s.  Players of -1. Players of -1 have been included in case they go to 0 at the end of the season but those on -2 or S or yet to submit a CV form have not been listed.  Brackets and NR. Any player who is considered by their club not to have played sufficiently or at the right level during this season will either remain in brackets, be placed in brackets or be Not Rated.

HGP. A Home Grown Player is a player who, irrespective of his nationality or current age, was an Associate or Junior Associate Member of the HPA for a period, continuous or not, of three entire seasons during his “Development Period”. “Development Period” means a player’s first five years playing polo. This will generally be taken to start with the season in which a player is awarded his first handicap as a polo player, either by the HPA or by an equivalent overseas polo authority, and to include the four seasons immediately following. For the avoidance of doubt, a player who first registers with the HPA will usually be an ‘S’ or -2, and a player with a handicap of 0 or higher from an equivalent overseas polo authority will generally be considered to have already completed at least three years of his five year “Development Period” and will therefore be precluded from qualifying as a Home Grown Player.
