Volume 1, Issue 5 May 2008 Dear RV’ers, First let me thank Bobbie & Stan Gold for a fun filled weekend in Indio. We had 13 rigs and everyone liked the park so much that Darrell Bunker reserved it for next year. The weather was made to order. On Thursday, we all went to the Elephant Bar for dinner. Their menu is outstanding and the lamb shanks seemed to be a hit with most of our group. On Friday we played bingo in the afternoon, had social hour, then barbequed at the club house. The club house is large with a great kitchen. We finished off Friday with Bunco. Saturday, we all gathered at the picnic area by the pond for Walt’s margaritas’ and a very entertaining dog show. That night Bobbie & Stan went all out and served us a dinner of salmon (with dill sauce) and chicken with side dishes. After dinner, several of us hung around to rake in the big bucks at Bunco. I think Bonnie Blackman set an all-time record for the most losses. Norma won for the most win’s (that’s a first) and Don and Bobbie had a roll off for the most Bunco’s. Don’s luck continues. There was so much going on in area, i.e. Betsy and Gary Hall spent Friday night at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival and then went to the Palm Springs Follies on Saturday. They reported a good time at both events. We all enjoyed Bobbie’s sister Chris who lives in Tucson. Chris and Harry (pet poodle) came over to spend the weekend. We hope to see Chris at future outings. Also joining us at dinner on Saturday was the Gold’s guests Dom & Barbara, Mike & Sherry and Mary. I hope they enjoyed us as much as we enjoyed their company. Sunday morning we had coffee, juice and cakes in the club house before we all departed for home. Dudley & Louann Healy will be the wagon masters at East Shore. If you plan on going, please get your reservations in to them ASAP. President Jack Gebhardt

AL MALAIKAH RVers 1 Ladies, I would be remiss if I didn’t start this letter off without thanking the men for their support of our raffles. They are such good sports and their generosity is commendable. Thank you Nick and Carmen for providing the prize this month. Everyone wanted the rolling insulated cooler filled with wine, beer and other goodies. We raised $315.00 and the raffle was won by Bobbie’s friend Sherry. What can I say about the dog show? A lot! Schnauzer Dexter decked out in his Harley cap and jacket strutted his stuff into second place in the costume category. Dexter was shown by Lee Duffett. Harry, shown by Chris won second place in overall appearance and third place in costume. Harry modeled a Polynesian jacket. Chris braved the heat at the street fair to find just the right outfit for Harry. Ladybug, the Golden Retriever shown by Bonnie Blackman dazzled us with her personality which won her a third place ribbon in that category. Aaron Blackman was reluctant to leave the runway as bonnet bedecked Molly; his Newfoundland gave us all a lesson in obedience. Molly walked away with first place ribbons in both personality and overall appearance. Australian Shepherd Aussie melted the judge’s hearts with his show of patriotism. Don Cannon pranced across the runway carrying the American flag with Aussie modeling red, white and blue. Aussie won first in costume, second in personality, and third in overall personality. Thank you judges Tina, Frank, Darrell, and Judy for your participation. Speaking of Tina, she came to the rescue when Aaron & Bonnie were locked out of their rig. By the way Aaron (Pampa), Rachel gave me some of your hugs. My little friend Rachel amazed us all with her game playing skill. Rachel, you can be my partner anytime. I forgot to mention how nice the pool was at the park. When we left on Sunday, Betty, aka Esther Williams was still doing laps across the pool. As usual, our ladies made some really good dishes for Friday, i.e. Bonnie’s Mac & Cheese & Carrot Cake, Sandy’s Rice Pilaf, Tina’s Broccoli Casserole, and Darrell’s Pico de Gallo. Oops, Darrell is no lady! See you in June ……..Norma

Herma Rodin has been under the weather. She experienced dizziness while in Indio. Herma, we hope you are feel- ing better.

Ralph Beckler has recovered from having a stent put in his aorta on April 22nd. He had a CAT scan last week and was told the stent is working well.

Vic Fontes is still in the recovery process after his brachytherapy. He had blood pressure problems but is much im- proved.

Mike Mulcahy was hospitalized with pancreatitis. He is home and doing better.

Jo Anne Wyman is dealing with some serious asthma problems. She reports that she is on new medication and it seems to be helping.

If you know of anyone in our club who has an illness and needs our prayers, please send me an e-mail. My e-mail address is [email protected] …………..Louann
