On behalf of the Kazakh-British Chamber of Commerce, we would like to tell you about the sponsorship opportunities relating to the forthcoming Kazakhstan Business Forum (KBF) which I think you will find interesting. Let me briefly give you the details of the Forum and explain what it is setting out to achieve.
The Kazakh-British Chamber of Commerce (KBCC) has taken the initiative to organise the first ever Kazakhstan Business Forum in London, in a strategic partnership with the Government of Kazakhstan, JSC Samruk-Kazyna, The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the UK and in cooperation with the state authorities of Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom. The Forum will take place on 20th October 2010 at the Banqueting House, Whitehall, London and 21st October 2010 at the Mandarin Oriental, 66 Knightsbridge, London. Its main purpose is to create a platform for ongoing dialogue to help establish better business relations, through discussion of the most promising areas of economic cooperation, and through consideration of the issues of investment protection and the promotion of specific business projects initiated between businesses in Kazakhstan and the UK.
The Kazakhstan Business Forum will consider economic and financial issues and will address the themes of business management conditions and practices in both countries. The Forum will be divided into thematic sessions, each based on its strategic importance to Kazakhstan, with the predominant aim of developing bilateral relations and exchanging ideas on best practice. The sessions will be divided in the following way:
First Section - “Management of Natural Resources and Energy”
This session will highlight:
Cooperation between Kazakhstan and British companies with the aim of attracting investment for the exploration and development of natural resources in Kazakhstan, including the exploration for and extraction of oil, gas and Uranium.
Communication about the conditions that have been created for foreign investors in the energy, oil and gas industries of Kazakhstan. Issues of cooperation in the environmental field as well as in the advanced technologies within this area.
Energy issues, including renewable energy.
New technologies and solutions in the fields of small hydropower, wind power, tidal energy, bio- fuels (biomass), geothermal energy, solar energy, backup power, hydrogen energy, co-generation, development, equipment, construction and energy efficiency.
Second Section -“Nuclear and Mining”
The structure of this thematic session will be:
To discuss the methodological, technical, environmental and social aspects of the current use of nuclear energy, as well as the development of the nuclear industry in the Republic of Kazakhstan as a whole.
The exchange of experience in the field of nuclear research, as well as in the areas of the design, construction, maintenance, repair and architecture of nuclear facilities.
Presentations from companies and service providers along with experts in the field of nuclear technology.
The promotion of professional dialogue on the efficient use of mineral resources, the development and deployment of advanced energy-saving technologies and effective management models for the mining industry. Third section - “Banking and Finance - Past, Present, Future”
It is expected that this section will feature:
Discussion on cooperation within financial services, as well as sharing experiences to improve financial management, financial risk management and financial control issues, with a view to attracting foreign investment to the financial sector in Kazakhstan.
Consideration of the prospects for the development of money and capital markets as an alternative and efficient source of raising capital for commercial banks and enterprises.
The key theme of planning and creating a future model for the banking sector in Kazakhstan, based on the experiences of the International banking community.
The development of Islamic banking and the financing of private businesses in Kazakhstan. It is expected that this section will look at the creation and application of Islamic financial models, with reference to similar financial institutions in the United Kingdom.
Fourth Section - “Infrastructure and Telecommunications”
This section will become an effective business platform for:
Meeting market professionals, promoting the best domestic and foreign technologies, and an information exchange with British partners.
Bringing together experts from the fields of communications and telecommunications.
Appraising the latest trends and prospects for the development of a market infrastructure and telecommunications services in Kazakhstan. The Kazakhstan Business Forum will be a widely discussed event in the economic and political life of both Kazakhstan and the United Kingdom which will have a significant impact within the European market.
