I. Students will come to class prepared for activity Incoming freshmen and new students MUST purchase a lock for their P.E. locker from the main office. All students are to keep their lock on their locker at all times. This lock is the student’s responsibility and if lost or stolen a replacement lock must be purchased for $5.00.
P.E. instructors/school is NOT responsible for stolen items (purses/bags, etc.) that are left on the benches or in unlocked lockers. It is advised that all students lock all items in their lockers after dressing out.
All students must wear a school issued PE uniform. This includes sweatshirts and sweatpants. Students must dress in complete uniform including athletic tennis shoes each day and must only wear their own suit.
II. Course content Weightlifting P.E. is an advanced weightlifting course designed for the betterment of athletes. The content of this course includes: Olympic style weightlifting, plyometric training, and speed development. Each student will also track their progress through the use of workout booklets and/or workout charts.
III. Participation/No Dress/Early Bird Time Policy Your grade will be based on your participation, effort, ability to dress out properly and ability to properly fill out workout booklets and cards. Therefore, all of these criteria are “one in the same”.
All students are also required to participate in ALL activities (unless cleared by the instructor or a doctor) and ALL “Early Bird” students must be in the weight room or the gym by 6:45am. If not present by 6:45, doors will be locked and student will be given an unexcused absence for that day.
NO DRESS POLICY**These accumulate for a semester! **Must wear school issued PE clothes and/or sweatshirt/sweatpants.
A. The first time that a student does not dress, without proper clearance, or is unexcused to “Early Bird”, their grade will be lowered by 5%. B. The second time that a student does not dress, without proper clearance, is unexcused to “Early Bird”, their grade will be lowered by another 5% and the parents will be contacted and they will be referred to the administration. C. The third time that a student does not dress, without proper clearance, is unexcused to “Early Bird”, you will be removed from the class and moved into study hall for insubordination and receive a grade of “F” for the semester.
PARTICIPATION POLICY**These accumulate for a semester! A. The first time that a student does not participate in activities as instructed by the teacher, their overall grade will be lowered by 5% and they will receive a detention. Parents will also be notified via phone. B. The second time that a student does not participate in activities as instructed by the teacher, their overall grade will be lowered by an additional 10% and they will receive a detention. Parents will also be notified via letter. C. The third time that a student does not participate in activities as instructed by the teacher, their overall grade will be lowered by an additional 20% and they will be removed from the class and moved into study hall and receive a grade of “F” for the semester.
IV. Grading Policy You will be graded on a point system, which includes grades from:
A. Participation Each student will receive a daily participation grade. Each day of activity is worth 10 points. B. Workout Booklet/Card Each student will receive a weekly booklet/card grade which will be worth 100 points. Equivalent to a test score. It is vital that each athlete fill out the needed information. Subject to change at the discretion of the instructor. C. Semester Exam Each student will be administered a “hands on” semester exam worth 20% of their overall semester grade:
Note: CHS is on a semester basis with each of the two nine-week grades counting as 40% of the final semester-grade, and the semester exam counting as 20% of the final semester-grade. In determining semester grades, it is required that the student passes two of the three grades given during each semester in order to receive a passing grade. Passing two of the three does not assure that a student will pass the semester. CUSD #4 GRADING SCALE

Failure to turn in work on time will result in loss of participation points for the days absent.
