GRANT TO FUND ISRAELI CULTURAL PROGRAMS FOR PAUL’S RUN RETIREMENT COMMUNITY

Year-long roster of Israeli cultural programs to kick off December 6th with performance by The Shabbatones

What: The Jewish Federation of Greater Philadelphia Center for Israel and Overseas has awarded Paul’s Run Retirement Community a $2,200 Israel Culture Grant to launch an exciting new Israeli cultural program, “Shalom! A Taste of Israel.”

Where: Paul’s Run Retirement Community, 9896 Bustleton Avenue, Philadelphia.

When: Six events scheduled to take place:

o Sunday, December 6, 2015 at 3pm – The University of Pennsylvania’s Jewish A Capella group, The Shabbatones will perform on the first night of Chanukah followed a candle lighting ceremony for the community.

o Sunday, April 17, 2016 – Hadar, an Israeli singer, will perform prior to the start of Passover.

o TBD – The Friends of Israel Scouts will return to the Paul’s Run for another engaging performance.

o TBD – During the next year, three film screenings and discussions will be held.

Who: Residents, their families and staff of Paul’s Run and The Shabbatones, The University of Pennsylvania’s Jewish A Cappella Group.

Why: Through song, films and food, “Shalom! A Taste of Israel,” will keep the bond with Israel strong for the approximately 250 Jewish residents at Paul’s Run, and will also enrich the lives of people in the community who may not know about Israeli culture.
