Brief summary of the proposed change.

Add the FAI class F1M as an official AMA event.

Exact wording proposed for the rule book. (List paragraph numbers where applicable. Example: Change “quote present rule book wording” to “exact wording required”.

On Page IND-2 under the wording below:

FAI Indoor Model (F1D)—specifications, flying rules, and scoring rules are the same as for world championship Indoor

models. (See FAI Sporting Code.)

Add the following wording:

FAI Indoor Model (F1M)—specifications, flying rules, and scoring rules are the same as for Class F1M – Indoor

Beginner’s Class. (See FAI Sporting Code.) Logic behind proposed change, including alleged shortcomings of the present rules. State intent for future reference.

F1M has been flown at the United States Indoor Championships and at many other locations for at least 10 years. It has had good rates of participation and has attracted a number of the top indoor freeflight competitors in the USA as well as some from other parts of the world.

New event test data/information (new events only), please provide what testing of this new event has taken place to include number of participants and number of contests.

For the 8 years of contest scores I have for USIC the number of participants for F1M has varied from 5 to 21. I have also been a participant in the F1M class at events in the Atlanta, GA area, Lakehurst, NJ, Colorado Springs, CO and

Champaign, IL.

Effect, if any, on current AMA records.

None.

Note: The Contest Board Chairman may, in coordination with the submitter of the proposal, at any time prior to submitting a proposal to the Contest Board for Final Vote, edit proposal wording to increase clarity and to avoid ambiguity provided the proposal intent is not changed.
