The Schools Support Analyst role will join an established SRS Education Team covering schools across Monmouthshire, Torfaen, Blaenau Gwent and Newport. The SRS Education Team is a multi-site team based across Blaenavon and Newport main offices and the partner schools delivering SLAs and project work dependant on service need.
The successful candidate must be technically capable with a good knowledge of IT (hardware and software), be approachable and have an excellent communication style and be able to provide support and advice to the schools.
You will provide an excellent level of customer care service at all times, and ensure compliance with quality systems and processes, with the aim to meet and exceed service performance targets.
The SRS is a collaboration of four public sector organisations ICT departments with Torfaen County Borough Council as the lead employer.

Job Purpose
To provide day-to-day technical support to the schools and teaching staff within the SRS Partner organisations.
Provision of on-site installation of hardware and software, general maintenance of equipment including, but not limited to, projectors, PCs, laptops, whiteboards, Apple devices, Chromebooks, etc. and advice to learning establishments in line with the Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in place.
To use specialist skills and training to support schools to enhance ICT environment for teaching and learning.
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities
1. Based within the school setting, and working with but not limited to, technologies such as Windows, Apple, you will provide the following:
Installation of hardware and software Repairs (or return to base if necessary) Management of desktops and general security issues Rollout of new technologies within the school Day-to-day proactive ICT support of school equipment and software.
2. While based at the school setting, you will log your time appropriately and accurately and will work in accordance to Shared Resource Service’s best practice as well as comply with school procedures, processes and systems.
3. You may be required, periodically, to work across other Secondary and Primary schools that are serviced by the SRS.
4. You will maintain an inventory of repairs and keeping schools informed of progress.
5. You will produce support materials for schools where required.
6. You will maintain a school inventory / audit of hardware to be updated annually.
7. You will demonstrate and assist in the safe and effective use of specialist equipment and software.
8. You will establish constructive relationships and communicate with other agencies/professionals to support the objectives of the ICT service to teachers and learners.
9. You will maintain an awareness of developing ICT trends, particularly within an educational setting, to enhance the teaching and learning environment.
10. You will provide advice, guidance and support to colleagues within the SRS.
11. You will liaise with SRS teams to share good practise.
12. You will provide proactive support and solutions to innovative ways of using ICT in education including research and development.
13. You will be required to be familiar with, but not limited to the following: Windows Active Directory Exchange Mailbox Management File Systems Printing Services Network Patching and Troubleshooting SCCM/Imaging Software Group Policy Apple Products Google Apps and Chromebooks Resources/Equipment/Material
1. Ensure that all stock – installs, repairs and projects is secured and accurately accounted for.
2. Responsible for safe use, maintenance and assignment of fleet vans.
3. Proper handling, care and security of all items entrusted to ICT during moves/projects.

Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience
1. Minimum 2 years’ experience working within ICT environment. 2. Driving licence essential with business insurance. 3. Good organisational skills and the ability to work with other team members. 4. Knowledge relevant to ICT systems and processes utilised within the Shared Resource Service. 5. Relevant knowledge of ICT processes and procedures. 6. Excellent customer care and interpersonal skills. 7. Able to develop good working relationships and communication with staff at all levels within the schools e.g. Head Teachers, Teachers and Governors.
Special Working Conditions
1. Due to the rapidly changing nature of the technological and business environment, and the continuing development of the Shared Resource Service, all staff will be expected to operate with a significant degree of flexibility. This will necessitate undertaking other related duties, commensurate with the grading of the post, as are required from time to time by the Head of the Service.
2. There may be occasions when it is required to work outside of the Shared Resource Service core hours or at weekends, and it will be expected that there will be some flexibility on the behalf of the post holder.
3. You may be required to work across both Primary and Secondary schools and be required to work from alternative locations based on the needs of the service.
