To the Driver That Killed Mike Macdonald

To the driver that killed Mike MacDonald:

A terrible tragedy struck our family on September 16, 2006. Our 25-year-old son Michael MacDonald was killed on Rt. 495 in Hopkinton, by a hit and run driver.

Michael was a caring son, brother, Grandson, cousin, nephew, and friend. He was loved by his housemates, and respected by his coworkers at Fidelity. As his father, I not only lost my best friend, but the joy of fatherhood, and his positive impact he would continue to have on others. The future truly lost a leader who led by example and would have continued to impact people in positive ways. To know Mike was to love Mike. He made friends with everyone. If you knew him, you would be a friend.

Nothing will ever take away our pain. However, one of our needs is knowing who was driving the car that morning. We can’t imagine a person or persons living with this secret. It is human nature that this tragedy will consume you and others with the pain and anxiety, along with the fear and the legal consequences, for the rest of your life.

We have so much pain in our hearts but through pain we try to remember that people are generally good. We realize that this was not an intentional act and it is a tragedy for all involved. The truth will set you free.

We ask that anyone with information please contact the State Police investigating this case, so that we may all move on with Our lives.

Yours Truly,

James MacDonald
