I met with Michael Garcia this morning and several things were discussed. 1. We have received many complaints on Gourmet Dining Services’ food quality. GDS has released a phone number for complaints. If you have complaints, you can text them to the number and it will either be resolved immediately or in the near future. If anyone comes up to you with a food complaint, direct them to this number. The phone number can be found in the cafeteria. 2. We have been made aware of the lack of vegan food in the cafeteria. This can be addressed if one visits Gourmet Dining Services’ dietician. If you inform the dietician about your needs, GDS will attempt to order certain foods that suit your diet. If the item is popular enough, it will be ordered frequently. Lent will be used as probationary period for vegan foods. 3. We also discussed vending machines. We addressed the issue of there not being enough healthy options. There will now be columns in the machines dedicated to healthier options. 4. The Duffy vending machine has no slot for cards. This vending machine will not be modified to read ID cards because the cost of modification would amount to more than the machine’s actual sales. 5. The idea of having a TV in the cove for the purpose of announcing orders was put on hold because every option that was looked at was not feasible. We are looking for other solutions. If anyone has any ideas or background in this area, please inform me. 6. Dunkin Donuts opening early for special events was also discussed. During this Sunday’s open house, there may be an early opening at either 9, 8, or 7 AM. If this is successful, Dunkin Donuts will be regularly open early for special events. 7. The coffee creamer in the cafeteria is also an issue. Michael Garcia and I tested it and the problem was addressed. 8. There will be a link on the Seton Hall website that will direct one to GDS’ menu for the day. 9. A guest chef has been serving food in the cafeteria recently. If we wanted to be part of the process, that is possible, similar to how the basketball coach will be volunteering. This is a potential outreach opportunity for elections. 10. The green tea runs out frequently so GDS will stock up on the product and it will also be made available in the vending machines. 11. Three more picnic tables were purchased for the area near the food truck. If enough people use them, the area will be paved and the tables will be placed there permanently. 12. We were asked to conduct an awareness campaign that would promote the current 25 foot smoking ban near buildings.  Academic Affairs i. Ad-hoc Senator Sookdeo and Ad-hoc Senator Reed met with Monica Burnett from the ARC and spoke about organizing study groups for students in specific classes. Blackboard was deemed optimal in handling this. There will be a pilot program for two classes and if that goes well, access to the study group feature will be granted to the rest of our campus. ii. During our previous meeting we discussed how Seton Hall students need more access to newspapers. We will be meeting with Dean Derry about getting access to newspapers such as the New York Times in a way similar to how our current databases work. Print newspapers are also something we want to make more available. iii. We met with the Dean of The School of Theology. The school is looking to host their Meet the Dean event on March 13 from 11AM-1PM. The school asked if we could help them advertise the event so we will be working with them on promoting this event. iv. Please share Senator Simon’s post on the Facebook group regarding the graduate school workshops on Wednesday. They will be held from 3:45- 5PM in the Faculty Lounge.  Finance i. Our committee heard three request from the National Council of Negro Women. 1. $397.79 were requested for the NCNW’s Tribute to Black Men event and $250.00 were granted. 2. $342.66 were requested for the NCNW’s Tribute to the Divine 9 event and $292.00 were granted. 3. $585.00 were requested for the NCNW’s Mr. NCNW event and $242.00 were granted.

 Public Relations i. There will be an outreach event tomorrow. It will be Mardi Gras themed. Senator Simon and I will be baking cupcakes for it. We will also be handing out beads and flyers with information regarding the time and place of our meetings. ii. The signup sheet for the open house has been posted, please sign up. Let us not repeat last semester’s open house issue. iii. Continue sharing what we post online, such as today’s anti bullying video and election information. Public Relations committee will be meeting tomorrow at 7:00 PM.  Village Relations i. We plan on getting more students to visit Seton Village. Instead of our formal meeting, we will be visiting the businesses on Irvington Avenue. We will meet in the office and head out between 7:30 and 8:00 PM. ii. I will be attending the South Orange Community Relations meeting to see what they will be doing for us.
