Latin America History Project

Latin America History Project

In the next few weeks we will learn about Latin American history. In order to show what you have learned, I would like for you to create one of the following projects based on what we have learned to display in the classroom. There are no limits to the project; you may use anything that you like! This will be a test grade, so make sure you do your best.

I encourage you to be creative and show what you have learned. There are some basic guidelines for your project:

 Option 1 Aztec’s: Create a 3D model of Tenochitlan or causeways and floating gardens or Aztec pyramids. This must be an accurate representation with two paragraphs (5 sentences each) explaining how the feature was unique to the Aztec’s and how it improved their way of life.

 Option 2 Inca’s: Create a model or diorama of their farming techniques. Model must be a true representation of terrace farming with two paragraphs (5 sentences each) explaining how and why the Inca’s had to use this farming method and why it was important to their way of life.

 Option 3 Colombian Exchange: research 15th, 16th, 17th Century Food (www.foodtimeline.org). Print off the recipe—you will need to turn this in with the CE spreadsheet. Research the origins (what country or region it came from) of all the ingredients listed and fill in on the Columbian Exchange Spreadsheet. (Try searching “origin of ______”.) List if this origin is from the Old or New World. Research and find the approximate date of the ingredient being used or discovered. Prepare the dish to share with the class.

 Option 4: Create a mini-scrapbook on one of the three independence figures that we discussed in class. Must include where they were from. Why they fought for independence. Who they though for independence from. Were they successful? What happened to them?
