BISHOP DR. LINWOOD COOPER 12 ON A WELLDESERVED RECOGNITION FROM THE 13 BELIEVERS HOLINESS CHURCH CONFERENCE. 14 15 Whereas, the Believers Holiness Church Conference honored Jr. 16 Bishop Dr. Linwood Cooper for his dedicated service to the 17 citizens of Williamsburg County on May 3, 2014, at the Believers 18 Holiness Church Conference First Annual Bishop’s Award 19 Banquet; and 20 21 Whereas, Bishop Cooper, a native of Williamsburg County, is the 22 son of the late Mr. Jeff W. Cooper and Mrs. Ada Bell Cooper; and 23 24 Whereas, Bishop Cooper received an associate of arts degree from 25 Friendship Junior College in Rock Hill and a bachelor of arts 26 degree in Social Work from Benedict College in Columbia. He 27 holds a certificate in management from the Quality College in 28 Orlando, Florida as well as a Certificate of Evangelism from 29 Eastern Bible institute in Newark, New Jersey, and a Master of 30 Religious Education from Lighthouse Christian College in Beebe, 31 Arkansas. He also holds an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from 32 Good Hope Christian College in Florence and a Doctorate of 33 Religious Education from Christian Outreach Bible Institute in 34 Fayetteville, North Carolina; and 35 36 Whereas, he serves as the dean of the Believers Bible Institute in 37 Coward, South Carolina. He is a notary public, an ordained 38 minister, a member of the NAACP, is president of the Benedict 39 Alumni Club of Williamsburg County, and is a member of the 40 Williamsburg County School District Board of Trustees 41 representing District #7; and 42

[1287] 2 1 Whereas, Bishop Cooper currently serves as pastor of St. Mark 2 Believers Holiness Church in Lake City and Trinity Believers 3 Holiness Church in Kingstree. He is the assistant bishop of the 4 Believers Holiness Conference; and 5 6 Whereas, Bishop Cooper is retired from the Williamsburg County 7 Department of Social Services where he was an economic services 8 program coordinator. He is presently employed with the 9 Williamsburg County Disaster Emergency Preparedness as a 10 community emergency response team coordinator and public 11 information officer; and 12 13 Whereas, Bishop Cooper is very active in his community. He has 14 received many awards as a result of his extensive community 15 service. He is the Past Worshipful Master of Pride of Rose Hill 16 Lodge #405, and is the Worthy Patron of Esther Chapter #265. He 17 is commissioner of Williamsburg County Department of 18 Disabilities and Special Needs and serves on the Williamsburg 19 County Ministerial Alliance as well as the Williamsburg County 20 Habitat for Humanity Board; and 21 22 Whereas, Bishop Cooper is a past member of the Board of 23 Directors of the Dr. Ronald McNair Nursing Center, a past 24 member of the Board of Directors of United Way, past recreation 25 commissioner of Williamsburg County, past member of South 26 Carolina State Department of Social Services Training Team, past 27 recording secretary of the 11th Masonic district, past member of the 28 executive board of the Georgetown Red Cross representing 29 Williamsburg County, past member of Unity Advisor Board of 30 Williamsburg County, past member of the Williamsburg County 31 Schools Advisory Council, he served as chaplain in the 3rd brigade, 32 4th regiment, past office of captain in the South Carolina State 33 Guard, past associate patron of the 6th district order of eastern stars; 34 and 35 36 Whereas, Bishop Cooper is married to Evangelist Dr. Doretha 37 McKnight Cooper, a retired social studies teacher with 38 Williamsburg and Lee County School Districts. The two have one 39 daughter, Evangelist Woodrena Cherise Segres, a son-in-law, and 40 two loving grandchildren; and 41 42 Whereas, Dr. Cooper enjoys fishing, hunting, biking, gospel 43 singing, and golf when he has free time; and

[1287] 3 1 2 Whereas, the members of the Senate find it fitting to honor Sr. 3 Bishop Dr. O.D. Fulton for his many years of dedicated service in 4 furtherance of the God’s kingdom. Now, therefore, 5 6 Be it resolved by the Senate: 7 8 That the Senate, by this resolution, congratulate Jr. Bishop Dr. 9 Linwood Cooper on a welldeserved recognition from the Believers 10 Holiness Church Conference. 11 12 Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to 13 Jr. Bishop Dr. Linwood Cooper. 14 XX 15
